Alex's Point Of View

I walked up to the hospital dad was staying at. Memorial Hill Hospital. He has been in a coma for two months now. He got shot while doing his job. I walked in and into his room. I sighed seeing my dad in such bad conditions. I sat down and put my bag on the floor. "Daddy. I know you can't hear me but I just want you to know I love you. Carl misses you. He ask if you're better everytime I come home from work. We miss you daddy. Please wake up soon. I love you." I said as I leaned down to kiss his forehead.

I left the hospital to go to my job. Unfortunately I have one if the 'classiest' jobs in the world. Lucky for me there was a road block. The sheriff's department knew me because of my dad. "What's up?" I asked referring to the road block. "Listen Alex, something weird is happening so just go home." The officer said. I opened my mouth to talk but someone took a chunk out of the officers shoulder. My eyes widened with fear. "ALEX GO." The officer shouted. I drove to the house to see a car in the driveway. It was Shane. Shane was the one name I hated. He and I had a little thing but that ended when my dad got shot. His focused move to my mom. I'm pretty sure my mom is messing around with him. "Alex get in the car." Mom said. "One second let me grab my gun." I said running to my room.

I then heard footsteps behind me. "Well well look who we have here. Little miss Alex all bent over, nothing I haven't seen before." The voice belonging to Shane said. "Fuck off Walsh." I said looking for the gun dad gave me. "Come on baby give me another chance." Shane said walking closer. I found the gun dad gave me and aimed it at Shane. "Come any closer and I will shoot. " I said. He froze. "Now listen. I don't know what's going on between you and my mom but you're not going to ruin this family." I said. He stayed quiet. "SHANE ALEX COME ON." Mom yelled. I put my gun down and packed a duffle bag full of clothes, shoes, and ammo. I ran downstairs and loaded the families stuff in Shane's trunk.

I waited in my truck for them to start leaving. Mom knocked on my window. "We're going to go see if your dad is awake." She said looking at me. I just nodded and looked forward. "Listen Alex I know you're pissed at me bu-" "but what mom? 'im sorry I'm cheating on your dad with his best friend.'?" I asked. She just looked down and walked back to Shane's car. Shane led the way while I followed.

We waited outside while Shane was inside getting dad. When Shane came out he looked upset. He told mom something and she cried. He then came to my window. "Your dad, he's not coming." Shane said. I looked down. "Let's just go to Atlanta. I got to stop for gas." I said. He nodded and went into his car.

Two months later.

I sighed as I waited for the group from the run to get back. Everyone was getting anxious until we heard a siren going off. Soon Glenn pulled up. "TURN THE DAMN THING OFF." I shouted. "I DON'T KNOW HOW."Glenn yelled back. Shane pulled something out and it stopped. Soon the rest of the group came in a moving truck. I looked at the ground wishing that my family was back together as one. Mom pulled Carl and I to the side. She kneeled down in front of Carl while I was behind him. "Listen I know it's hard watching everyone be reunited with their families but we have each other and I know your dad would want us to survive." She said. I blocked out what she said after when I heard Morales call the new guy out. I looked to the truck to see dad. "Holy shit." I whispered. Carl and Mom looked up. "DAD." Carl shouted running. "DADDY." I yelled running to dad. I hugged him and Carl. "I thought you were dead." I said hugging his neck. "You had every right to think that Al" Dad said kissing my forehead.
