Five years ago the world was struck by a group called the Imgines, they are small, blue creatures. This creatures were fast and used their long arms to suffocated and pull hearts out of its victims. My mom was a victim. She was standing on the sidewalk and walking out of the cupcake place with me. We were laughing and having a good time when one of the Imgines decided my mother was a good victim. They dug into her chest and tore out her heart and carried it back to their chest to place it in storage, or something like it.
After they placed her heart in their chest the creature came up to me, a small ten year old girl compared to a six foot tall alienated creature then unknown to earth. The creature did not kill me but instead placed his soft almost silk like skin on my arm. He pulled me onto his back and carried me through the city and back to a dark and intimidating mother ship.
The mother ship was warm and filled with small almost, almost humanoid creatures. They stopped and departed from a huge crowd as the creature carried me to the captain of the mother ship, the only creature who did not seek a heart. He was the only Imgine with a natural born heart and the only one who knew how to keep it alive in their extremely warm organs and bodies.
The tall creature set me down in front of the Captain and bowed before him behind me. The Captain stepped down from steps on his two feet and his long tentacle arms. He placed his long arms on my shoulders and a small locket came around my neck.
"This is for you, the only humanoid that has the chance, the will to join and help the Imgines from extinction." His harsh English made it hard to understand him, but i knew it was important. He repeated it for me in his own language to the crowd and for some reason it was easier to understand Imgiane than it was to understand English.
"Why must you destroy my planet? Why must you kill the innocent?" I say stepped up to him and looking him straight in the eye. The rest of the "tribe" gasped and the one who brought me to the captain tried to pull me away but it didnt matter. He could kill me, there was nothing i had to loose any more.
"I do not kill for anything more than resource and we do not waste the non-flexible forms of the humans. We merely use them for research and we do not usually spare those who stand in our way. I wishes that you would understand by learning among us, as one of us."
"I am too young, younger than any of you."
"No, you are not. You are the only humanoid who has not been truly afraid of us, the only one to not run away and you may be young but most of us are not much older than fifteen in your humanoid years. But in Imgine years you are 200 years old."
i paused in shock wanting to go home, but there was no home without her, without my mom. "I will become one of you and I will defend your nation, but I will not be the only one, I must have another humanoid with me. I will not be alone for all eternity without some reminder of my true home."
"Than we will find one that is just as useful as you and to us no use for their death." I bowed on one knee before him and stepped down. The six foot tall creature was more capable of love while every Imgine was different and was better at one emotion than another. Like humans there was no Imgine alike and each one cared for me a bit differently.
i was taken to a room that could have fit my entire house inside. The bed was lined with some type of soft fur, the mattress made of rare pink cotton and the wall covered in windows and the few was of the stars and planets. No human has ever been so close to the stars, people say touch the stars and i am.
The next three days or so was filled with training, school, and more training. I ate weird food and actually learned to love it. I made friends with the tall, six foot Imgine named Dream or Himon. He was the one who carried me to where i am now. He calls me Gimain or Fate. I became his child for his died due to a humanoid in Antarctica called the polar bear. His son was named Gier meaning magic. I was not going to forget what they had taken from me but i also wasn't going to forget what they have given me. They gave me a home a family and some place where i belong.
After lunch of the same day a figure with two legs and had humanoid background walks to my table. I didnt look up until he said hi and i realized that he was sitting right next to me.
"I am Bryan." He says reaching his hands out towards me.
"I am Gimain, have you learned the language yet?" I say turning away from his hand and looking down at my food.
"No, no I haven't."
"Then it looks like your going to have trouble here." I pick up my tray and move away from him. They had to choose him, someone that was arrogant and lazy and wanted nothing to do with the Imgines. Over the next couple of months we were forced to get to know each other, and to become friends but to be honest i didnt want anything to do with him. He had no work ethic, he wanted to just learn to fight and to be n higher combat classes like i, but he would never get there if he only thought of the future.
Five years go by and we became friends, we learned together, we laughed together, and we became like siblings. He was the friend i had yearned for on this ship and he was the only human i would ever see again. With his wit and his ability to feel made his research and training so unique while my ability to feel and to retain a lot information quickly made mine difficult.
But today is our final test, our final chance to completely join the Imgine army, life style, and family.
