Ella's POV
"That was a sick show lads!" Niall exclaimed as he and the rest of the boys burst into the dressing room.
"May have had something to do with some events beforehand." Niall snorted with laughter, winking at me.
I looked down in embarrassment, but not before seeing Harry wince at Niall's words.
Nobody spoke of Harry's actions on stage but it was definitely the elephant in the room. We were all aware it was on each other's minds.
Lucy was still sitting on the sofa with her arm draped around my shoulder. Me leaning into her with my knees brought to my chest still rocking slightly with light sobs. We had opted not to go back into the arena after my abrupt exit. The show had almost been over anyway and I couldn't handle being out there in the overwhelming atmosphere. I was grateful Lucy had stayed with me.
Niall suddenly lifted me up and sat me onto his lap. He pulled my head back against his chest gently and began kissing and sucking on my neck. I knew exactly what he was doing. He was marking his territory. Making it clear to Harry that I was his and only his.
I pushed Niall back lightly and snuggled back up into Lucy. Not in the mood for Niall boasting and bragging about our relationship status to Harry by attacking my neck in front of him.
He seemed to take my rejection badly. Huffing and muttering rudely under his breath and the jumping up and exiting the room, slamming the door behind him.
"Right ladies and gents, shall we be off?" Louis questioned cheerily. Attempting to ease the awkwardness of the whole situation.
Louis had booked a table at a local restaurant for after the show, for them, Lucy and I to share a meal after their first show of the tour.
Lucy literally had to yank me up from the cosy sofa. Honestly the last thing I wanted to do was go out for a meal at some fancy restaurant. All I wanted to do was go home, snuggle up and cry into a pillow with a bottle of wine. But somehow I managed to grab my duffle bag with clothes appropriate for the snobby venue and go into the bathroom to change.
"That really was a dick move Harry. You're really not going about this the right way." I heard Lucy scold, muffled by the wall between us.
"Well what the fuck am I supposed to do! What if I'm already too late! What if I've fucked it all up!" Harry yelled.
I winced at the tone he was using but continued to eavesdrop on the conversation between Harry and my best friend. The boys dropping their thoughts on the situation occasionally, apart from Niall of course. He was still probably sulking in another room.
"Look mate, just leave it for tonight yeah?" I heard Louis say gently. "It's already been a long night, the last thing we want is you pissing Niall off anymore, upsetting Ella anymore and causing a public embarrassment. Let's just go and have a nice meal together."
I was broken from my nosey trance by a couple of soft knocks on the door.
"Babe, you almost done?" Lucy said softly.
"Yeah, just need a couple of minutes." I lied. I hadn't even started getting ready, still holding my dress in my hands.
I quickly stripped and slipped on the loose tunic dress on. It was short. Extremely short. I had chosen it in the hopes of impressing Niall, but I wasn't really bothered anymore, only wishing I had brought a pair of tights. Or at least taken more care when shaving my legs. Still, the black rose patterned fabric draped loosely over my tired body. I slipped on my red heels and grabbed the matching red clutch. I pulled out my make up supplies and slathered my hands in foundation and rubbing it over my reddened skin. I quickly applied eyeliner and swiped mascara on rapidly. I really could not be bothered. I lastly added red lipstick. The colour was supposed to be sexy but I felt anything but. I didn't even bother doing my hair, letting the slightly matted mess hang loose over my shoulders.
I exited the bathroom hastily, not wanting to draw attention to myself. But somehow everyone's heads turned.
"Babe you look absolutely incredible." Lucy squealed pulling me in for a hug.
I hugged back loosely, staring to the ground in embarrassment.
I caught Harry's gaze briefly, his eyes were wide and mouth parted slightly. The rest of the boys looked almost as bewildered. God knows why.
A fake smile plastered my face.
"Should we get going then." I spoke with a fake cheer in my voice. Passing the still speechless group and heading out the door.
I began to practically strut down the corridor. When a soft voice stopped me in my tracks.
"El." Niall spoke softly. He let out a gasp when I turned around.
"You look so beautiful." He sighed. Approaching me cautiously and placing a soft kiss to my cheek.
"I'm so sorry for storming off, I shouldn't have taken my anger out on you." He apologised gently, reaching out to stroke my cheek.
I sighed before wrapping my arms around his neck, his palms gently gripping my hipbones in response.
"Just don't cause a scene tonight, yeah." I quirked.
Niall deliberated for a moment before nodding. I could he wanted nothing more than to drag Harry outside and beat him to a pulp. But I also knew Harry would fight back and despite both of their feelings towards me, they would regret ever laying a finger on each other in the morning. They were best friends. Best friends fight. Best friends make up. It's how it works. Lucy and I knew that better than anyone else. I thought to myself, as Niall placed a hand on the small of my back, leading me towards the black Range Rover waiting outside.
Authors Note
Okay firstly something really scary happened last week and Across the Road somehow got deleted and I was shit scared and was practically in tears. I thought I had lost all my reads, votes and lovely comments which all mean so much to me. Luckily I contacted Wattpad and got the whole thing back and I was soooo relieved.
I hope this chapter was satisfactory. Ella's dinner outfit is on the side. I can promise more drama next chapter. especially if you aren't huge fans of Nella. ;)
