Fall 2001, Everett WA. October 15th
Me and my group of friends were thoughtless and decided to investigate the Home of Mystery. It was said to have demons hidden around the house in various places. One in the backyard, one trapped in the upper attic and the third in an unknown place. People would come and see shadow figures in the windows looking down with pleading expressions upon their faces, and it was always told in the olden tales that they were there since 1944 when the towns butcher had massacred people within the home.
Old man Tom had once said he came to fix pipes in the home so it can be ready to sell to home owners and appeared in front of him a ghostly entity of a tall man so ruthless looking, it made his whole body freeze. The entity had screamed in a booming voice, "GET OUT!" Old man Tom never came back to that house and I doubt he would ever go back even if he was paid millions of dollars.
Josh and Mary had decided we’d visit this house on October 16th, the anniversary of the killings back in ’44. We plan to bring cameras, tape recorders and some flash lights for all five of us. We said we’d go around 7pm, no later on the 16th because policemen would be watching the home like a hawk due to many attempted break-ins to prove the stories of the home at night. Some people chickened out and others had mysteriously disappeared and were never heard from again, except for Bonnie Wright. No one knows where she’s at now, but rumor was created by the townspeople that when she ran to the police station to report her friends were killed, the police suspected that she had killed them, and so she was sent to California to an asylum.
So here we are. I, Josh, Mary, Julianne and my girlfriend Angelica were sitting in my bedroom. Julianne brings out all her father’s flashlights, and her tape recorder, while Josh brings out his very expensive video camera.
"Got permission to stay the night at my house, guys?" We all nodded and compared stories to what our parents said and how couple of our parents had wondered why in suspicion that we were going to get in trouble by throwing a party or something. "Good, my dad will be back on the 18th from his business trip, so we’ll have the house all to ourselves tomorrow night." We continued to go over the plan, how, when and time to start our investigation. We agreed 7:00pm would be best to start heading in. The police would be on guard to watch the place till around 8:00 so that gives us an hour.
We said our goodbye’s to each other as everyone was heading home for a good night’s rest. Angelica stayed behind because her dads a drunk and her step mom paid no attention to her so no one would even notice her gone for a night. "This is going to be wild! I can’t wait to prove to the townspeople that the stories of the house is just old stories and that there isn’t such things as demons and ghost. All nothing but a legend that has been around for years. A horrible killings spree." Angelica said to me.
"Yeah, my dad’s one of the people that actually believed in the stories. Mom used to before she died, but she told me that if I felt like I need to see for myself or not, she wouldn’t stop me. So here we are, going to prove it." My mom was a great person. The stories of this town goes beyond what the reality is. My mom worked with old man Tom and they say because she went near that house, she was cursed and that’s how and why she became so sick, she died. Mom just had medical problems, and no one seems to get rid of the old stories and just live in reality.
Angelica stayed the night, so it was easy for her to be on time. Everyone came to my house ready for this wild adventure to an old home. We headed out at 6:25, and walked casually to the house and after ten minutes of walking down the street, we stood in front of the house. "Okay buddies, are we ready for this?" I asked, excited. We all agreed we were ready and scared but we were going through with this.
