I jumped around in my seat anticipating the final school bell. The school year was grueling but coming to an end. Sixth grade was one wild ride I couldn't wait to get off of. I hoped my summer would be the opposite of the school year, fun. My best friend, Callie, was moving in with me for the summer because her parents were visiting family in Europe and couldn't bring Callie. Callie's personality is optimistic and outgoing. I hoped my summer would be the best summer because I knew she would bend some rules.
Ring! Ah, the final bell. I picked up my belongings and dashed to my locker. The halls were crowded with people wanting to go home. I made it to my locker only to find out that there was no way I could get to it.
"Sorry Selena," Kirk moved away from my locker.
"Thank you," I was great full people still were nice in the rush of the final day of school. I grabbed my vintage backpack and started down the hallway towards the doors.
"Yo, what up," Callie came up and gave me a high five, "You excited?"
"Duh," I am thrilled to have Callie move in with me, "Wanna walk home?"
"Sure,"Callie replied, "Ready for the best summer ever?"
"Oh yeah," We started out the door. Mr. Snow, our EXTREMELY mean principal, who does not like rebels, waved goodbye to us with the cheesiest smile slapped on his face. We waved back and tried to fight the crowd of people getting to the busses.
Once we reached my house, we went into my room only to find Callie's parents failed to diliver her belongings.
"Oh just your average parents, forgetting simple tasks because they are busy serving themselves," Callie sighed.
"Don't be so hard on them, they are planning a trip out of the country," I tried to explain.
"A trip they didn't take me on," Callie sighed again.
"True dat. On the contrary, wouldn't you rather spend the summer with me instead of with family to old to do anything and family you don't even know?" I hoped I was making sense.
"You got me there," Callie was in a better mood now.
"Since my parents are never home, I guess we have the house to ourselves," My parents were never home because they were always working and they barely even noticed me, if I left the country they probably wouldn't even notice. Being the adventurous girl Callie is, she told me this.
"You thinking what I am thinking?" Callie asked.
"Probably not, just tell me," Hopefully she has something fun in mind.
"Let's go swimming!" Callie reached into her backpack and pulled out her swimsuit, speaker, and phone.
"And here you see Callie in her natural habitat, always having fun," I motioned my arms towards her.
"Ha ha very funny," I could tell she was laughing.
"To answer your question slash statement, I would love to go swimming," I walked over to my dresser and pulled out my swimsuit. "I'll change in the bathroom and you can change in here. Is that okay?"
"Sweet," Callie nodded. I shut the door to my room and strolled into the bathroom. Once I was finished, I knocked on the door to my room.
"Callie what is taking you so long? Merry Beach is a long walk and we don't want to swim in the dark!" I kept knocking.
"Oh no, no, no," Callie called out.
"What is it?" I asked.
"You think we are going to a public beach filled with city people?" Callie said.
