Adeline awoke, not knowing where she was, she did remember one thing… Her family and nothing else. She got up and looked around. Vast land. As she tried to get up she felt an immense pain in her leg. Broken.
How did this happen? she asked herself. Adeline stayed for a couple of seconds with her hand on her broken leg. After about ten seconds her leg felt better again. She got up.
“ I can move it now?” she said to herself.
She could move her leg with no pain, so she walked. She walked until she could find civilization. After what seemed a long, long walk, she came to a town. There was a sign at the entrance of the town, it read, “ Welcome to Bexmer town!”
Adeline kept on walking into the town. She met this woman, whose name was Rini Marquernick.
“ Where am I?” Adeline asked
“Why, well you’re in Bexmer town, my dear!”
“ No, I mean what world is this?”
“I-I don’t know what you mean.”
“Me neither. I just appeared here. I don’t know why and I can’t remember anything.”
Rini said nothing.
“ I know it sounds weird, but it’s true. I woke up out in the middle of nowhere, and my leg was broken. I put my hand on it and-”
“Ok, I was lying, I know why you’re here… why everyone's here. People are here because they got chosen to prove themselves worthy by the ‘Beast.’”
“Who?”
“The Beast. He’s the one that brought everyone here.”
“Oh. Has anyone seen him?”
“No, but there are rumors that he is in one of the mountains close by.”
“Has anyone gone there?”
“No. Why?”
Just as Adeline was about to respond, a boy about the same age as Adeline came running down the stairs
“Mom! Mom! I think Jaidie broke her leg!” the boy said.
“What! How?!” Rini responded
“ She was jumping on the bed and all of a sudden she just fell!”
“ I can help.” said Adeline
“Really?” said the boy and Rini at the same time.
“Yeah.”
“ Please do.”
The three went upstairs. Adeline could hear the crying from one of the rooms. They got to the room and Rini opened the door. There was a skinny girl holding her leg.
“Mommy!” she said sobbing.
Adeline sprinted towards her without saying anything.
“ It’s all going to be ok. Don’t worry.” said Adeline
Adeline put her hands on Jaiden's leg and almost instantly Jaiden felt better.
“How do you feel?” Adeline said.
“Better. I feel no pain. Thank you.” she responded sniffling.
“No problem.” said Adeline
They all went back downstairs. Rini offered Adeline a drink, but Adeline refused. Adeline asked if she could stay the night. Rini said she could stay. The boy went back upstairs without saying anything to her or anyone else except his sister.
