“The Candy Cycle
- Lenora Hipolight
You will only need to go once
I promise you’ll never go back
I religiously played for months
Fighting the Candy Crush attack
First it was rather boringly benign
To avoid Tiffi throwing a tantrum
You finish a level one at a time
Then you reach chocolate delirium
Over again I wholeheartedly tried
What is wrong with such a horrible cream?
Oh look, after five lives (or tries) I died
If I don’t play again I’m sure I’ll scream
Fix the problem and make a fake account
The number of lives a cat has it nine
Five lives is not the minimum amount
Now you have ten lives to live with online
Though I feel like screaming I still have school
And my backpack gives me the dirty eye
Drowning in a mass of a paper pool
A solemn farewell to my straight A’s; bye
Liquorice, Chocolate, Jelly and Cream
When the fear of failing struck my stupid head
Then comes Otis with a world in a dream
Procrastination and homework I’ll tread
When was the last time I talked to my friend?
The cat with nine lives has more life than me
At least it’s not begging for lives to lend
I’m missing out, where is my sanity?
Yesterday passed and I deleted it
I ran off to my friends celebrate
Tap, tap, tap, tapping a screen with eight-bit
I saw ghostly faces; I was too late
I do not get it, I thought they heard
“Don’t fall into a foolish stupid game”
Absolutely not one named Flappy Bird!
The cat’ll have more life than you and that’s lame.
