Leigh's POV
I lay face down on Jesy's couch.
"Urgh." That's me groaning face down on Jesy's couch.
"Leigh-Anne, get up."
"Fuck you." That's me cursing face down on Jesy's couch.
"If you don't get your small bum up I'm going to drag you across this floor, Leigh."
"Was that a threat?" And that's me asking questions face down on Jesy's couch.
"It sure was, sugar."
"I've a name, you know. I'm not an item on your damn grocery list."
She laughs at me holding her hand out. I take it.
"I invited you over, the least you can do is just enjoy the outside world with me."
That's what we were arguing about. Going outside.
Not even really out in the public, just to her balcony. Mhm girl's so rich she has a balcony.
"I don't want to. You're abusing a girl with cancer, basically."
"Don't play the cancer card with me. You look fine. I want to show you something."
"What if someone sees me?" I had a panic state weighing on my chest. I looked sick. I mean I know I am sick but I actually look the part.
"Leigh-Anne, no one you possibly know is outside."
"I feel woozy." Excuses.
"Please, you small piece of broccoli. I just want to show you something." These nicknames, I swear.
"Jesy if it's another frog I swear to go-"
"It's not. I learned my lesson." She laughed touching her eye.
Sometimes I throw things when I'm scared. Those things may or may not hit you in the face.
"Will I get hurt?" I question.
"Would I hurt you?"
"You almost gave me a heart attack trying to show me an amphibian."
"Okay let me rephrase that. Would I intentionally hurt you?"
"I hope not."
"Just come on. This is important to me."
There wasn't a solid reason that I was refusing to step outside in a totally safe neighborhood with a hopefully totally safe person I knew. I was just being stubborn and paranoid.
"You're lucky I like you," I huff.
"Close your eyes."
"Jes." I pleaded.
"Close em. I won't let anything bad happen to you." She places her hands on my back. Slowly I let her push me in the direction the door was in.
My eyes kept closed and my heart beating fast. I hated surprises. I either knew what was happening or it wouldn't happen. Yet here I am.
"It's cold out here."
"Shh. Sit right here."
"Right where? I can't see."
"Okay then just open your eyes."
"You're making me anxious."
"Open em." Her voice was strong.
So I did.
"Is that me? You drew that?"
Standing in front of me was a canvas. On that canvas was a painting. That painting was a picture. That picture was of a girl. That girl looked like me.
