How was I going to explain this too him?
"George I.."
He sat up cupping my face in his hands, his eyes searching for an answer in my face. Tears rolled down my cheeks and I just couldn't hide it anymore.
The truth was that Matt had been abusing me for months, hitting me and grabbing me..being possesive. The only family I knew was my mother and she was still in rehab so there was no one to help. I knew the only way that I would be able to leave him was to leave town so I ran. I took a few trains until I found this little village on the outskirts of London and it was perfect..quiet, safe and nobody even knew my name here. I thought everything was going great.. I had a nice hotel to stay in, I had found a job and then well..George came along. It all would have been perfect if Matt hadn't been following my every move.
I explained all this to George through my sobbing, and he held me close to his chest listening intently to my every word.
"Look at me" he said firmly but with care in his tone. "I need you to know that you are 100 percent safe with me okay? He will never ever hurt you again I promise you." His words were so comforting and I truly believed with all my heart that he would protect me.
"Tomorrow I'll take you to the police station and you will tell them everything that scumbag did to you, so he will get what he deserves" he had anger in his voice and I looked up at him.
"Thank you..for everything. For just being here" I said wrapping his fingers around mine.
He pulled the duvet cover over us both and I cuddled into him, his head resting on top of mine.
"Get some rest, tomorrow will be hard, but I'm here for you" he said gently, his voice sleepy.
I smiled and closed my eyes. We lay there, our bodies warm against each other until our hearts were beating almost in sync. The gentle rise and fall of his chest was all I could feel as I drifted off to a deep sleep.
