Stood at the window, the girl watched that woman and her friend walk down the road arm in arm. From the corner of her eyes, to the opposite side of the road, she thought she something she had not seen for a long time. Her eyes widened, watching the figure approach as she profusely perspired.

Her mother watched her shake, going to see what she was scared of.

Feeling her mother's touch on her shoulder, the girl turned, pointing her finger to the figure.

The mother placed her arm around her daughter's shoulders, trying to lead her from the window, but she pulled from her, staring at the figure. She knew what it was, but didn't know what it wanted. The mother knelt between her daughter and the direction she was looking, placing an arm on each of her daughter's upper arms to try and calm her.

The girl moved her head to her mother's ear.

Outside, the being continued it's journey towards the girl.

Shrugging from her mother's grip, her gaze went back to where it had been as the being stood outside the window, smiling at her. It held a long wooden handle with what looked like an axe at the top.

It raised one arm to pull down it's hood and smiled at her.

She turned to face her mother, waving her hand for her mother to join her at her level.

As the daughter went to her mother's ear, the being turned it's head to one side and pressed it against the glass, smiling.

The mother rose, trying to pull her daughter as she moved from the window.

Her daughter was not moveableas the figure outside the window waved its index finger at her, shaking its head.

The mother tried to pull harder, before turning around to search for help, but was only able to watch her husband remain by the bar talking to the bartender. She shouted for his help, but he continued to take no notice of her.

No one in the pub motioned to help as they continued, and she was suddenly aware she was unable to hear any sounds from the pub.

Leaving her daughter by the window, she turned to step from her. One step away and she could here the chatter of everyone in the pub once more.

As the being leant the object it held against the window, it morphed through, causing a clatter as it fell to the floor, narrowly missing her mother as she left, and landed at the girl's side.

The girl's attention went back to the window, touching the glass where the object had just fallen through. As she splayed her hand, she ran it down the pane which appeared scratched with a straight line, but not shattered. Nearing the bottom, she knelt.

Her mother turned to witness this, but was unable to see what she was touching.

As the girl reached the summit of the object, she ran her hand across the metal, feeling the coldness seep through her as a bolt of lightening shot from it towards the window, forming a gap in the middle to let the being morph through.

Placing it's foot on the part of the scythe which touched the window. He grinned at the girl, pointing its finger to her as it entered the pub.

She rose, turning her head as she walked towards it with the air pulsing between them.

By her, the being bent to her level, moving it's mouth to her ear.

The girl shivered as it touched her shoulder, where her mother's hand had just been, with the nail of it's index finger.

Her mother watched, wondering what she was doing, knowing she had always lived in her own world, and let her do as she wished. Concerned, the mother decided to go back to her daughter to see what the matter was.

She snapped a glance at her mother, slitting her eyes.

Her mother immediately stopped, going back to her husband, but continually watched her daughter.

"Why was you trying to warn her?" the being asked.

Head shaking, the girl tried to move, but the visitor put its hand firmer onto her shoulder to prevent her.

"You know she will never be able to have her husband back without us watching."

Widening her eyes as fully as she was able, she tried to rise once more, but was prevented, as he placed his other hand hard on her other shoulder.

From the bar, the mother watched her daughter tried to rise, but fall back to the floor and move no more.

"Mia, are you okay?" she shouted.

Mia looked in her mother's direction, nodding, as a transparent shield rose from the floor to encase her.
