My first drawing is the sugar skull.
I have been fascinated by the holiday known as The Day of The Dead, or Día de los Muertos. So, it seemed only right to draw the well known sugar skull.
History Behind Item:
The sugar skull is, well, sugar pressed into a skull. El Día de los Muertos is celebrated on November 1st, and 2nd. The first is for the children who have pass and the second is for the adults. When the holiday comes around people will normally set up alters for the dead/spirits and put many things onto it. One of these items is a sugar skull. Now, I don't know much on why they set it upon the alter, but I'm slowly learning. The more you know!
My thought process:
When I saw the prompt I immediately thought of a sugar skull with fangs (as seen in the picture). When I had drawn the skull I thought something was missing. But what? A background. That's what was missing. So, I drew in the spider web, flowers, and crazy patterns. The flowers are supposed to be marigolds. The flower normally put onto graves during El Día de los Muertos.Hopefully this educated you on The Day of The Dead. ❤️ Have a lovely day!
