Chapter One

There was once a time where dragons and half-breeds were just allies without need of treaties, but as the days darkened, there became a need for peace to be brought among the two. So for many centuries now, the dragons have given protection to the half-breeds in exchange for something at their request. After every couple of centuries the dragons and half-breeds meet to renew their treaties and exchange promises. Today is that very day...

Ivy sits perched on a branch over the small flowing stream as she watches a small school of fish swim by. She usually comes to the stream everyday and takes small naps to get away from the other cat half-breeds. No one really cared to bother her and she definitely avoided to bother them. Today she felt something was going to happen, like when you get a feeling your going to get cake for your birthday and when its time to sing the birthday song, then they bring out the cake and you get so excited and feel like you are on the edge of your seat. Or the feeling you get before falling into the stream and becoming drenched from head to toe because your best friend just pushed you in.

" Mason! What the heck?!" Ivy hisses as she wipes away the water on her face and glares at her friend.

Mason has his hands behind his back staring up through his eyelashes trying to look innocent, but oh boy was he going to get it. "Okay, I know you're probably upset, but I have a very good reason for it.... Um, what was I going to say again? Oh well, anyways. I need a favor," he said rubbing the back of his neck as his ears drooped down a bit.

Ivy looks at him skeptically, " The last time I did you a favor, I had to sleep outside in the middle of the village."

Mason frowns," Oh come on! I didn't know that mixing the corpa vines with the tea would cause that much trouble. I had no clue that it was part of the silver vine family. Plus, you weren't complaining when you saw how crazy everyone started acting. Anyways, I need you to go the meeting they are having this evening."

"Why do I have to go? Isn't that your job?" Ivy asks.

"Yes, but last week when I went with my uncle to set up the meeting, a dragon almost set my tail on fire. So will you please go to the meeting for me?," he gives a pleading look as he runs a shaky hand through his black short hair while his tail flicks nervously.

Ivy sighs, "Okay, but you so owe me a solid for this Mason! Now where and what time is the meeting?"

Mason chuckles nervous, " Uh... It started five minutes ago in the village hall...."

Her ears perk up as her eyes widen, "What?! That means I'm late. Ugh. You owe me so bad Mason!" Ivy jumps up onto the bank and runs to the village, hoping the air slightly dries at least a little bit of her clothes. She picks up her speed as she enters the village and runs up the stairs of the village hall, slamming the doors open.
