Hello lovelies! I hope you enjoy this! I also hope it's not toooo bad, please like and comment to let me know, thanks!
"I can't believe we're actually doing this." I mutter to myself as I bored the huge boat. Bills assistant walks next to me, try as I might I could never remember his name, so I usually called him kid. He was carrying a huge case with monarchs symbol on the outside. The geological study's girl walked behind him, Im not around much as I'm usually put on the field, so she and I have never really spoken. She seems nice.
"The photos and records show that there may be a huge beast on the island. We have a tracker and a photographer so if we can find it we can prove that there is monsters out there." He paused. "I thought this is what you did. Why don't you like it?"
"I have a bad feeling about this trip. Not to mention Bill doesn't trust me so all I know it that there may be a monster. Thats it." I Spoke quickly and ended the discussion. Bill doesn't like me, I don't know why, he just doesn't. It's very hard to work with him as he never tells me anything and restricts me from telling anyone else. As far as I know there may be a monster on this island. Maybe not. Really, I don't know anything. The
We turned around another hallway before making it to the main meeting room. Bill was there, along with the scientists we where taking a ride with. A couple soldiers stood near the door, though most where loading up the deck with weapons and other junk. Bill looked glad we where here as he used us as an excuse to leave his current conversation with a short curly haired man.
He quickly made his way over to us. "There you are. The soldiers are already here but Mr Conrad and Miss Weaver will be here shortly, if not already." He looked at us as if we knew what we where supposed to do. "You two go make sure all our gear is on board and the rooms we will be staying in are ready." The assistants nodded then walked off. "Lila I want you to go get Mr Conrad and Miss Weaver from down by the front of the loading station." I grimaced slightly at his tone. Purely disapproving.
"Sir I don't know what they look like." I didn't, I had opted out of coming to find James and quite frankly didn't understand why we needed him. I'm a mercenary myself so I should be able to handle a little trip like this. Not to mention the photographer, I could some what see why she was needed but still haven't met her.
"Ones a girl, probably the only one you'll see out there. The other is tall blond and British. Now go!" I nodded and jogged off to the loading area. Surprised at my complete lack or resistance. Well, I have know Bill for a while now and he is my boss. Still I don't understand why he hates me so much and never trusts me with stuff. I've demonstrated myself capable. I decided to shake off these thoughts as I rounded the last corner to the boarding area.
When I arrived I noticed the general was waiting there for something. He appeared to be talking to a woman. I couldn't make it out but they seemed to be disagreeing. I approached them and cleared my throat to get their attention. Both turned quickly, as usual I was silent when approaching. "Miss Weaver?" I asked politely.
She smiled brightly. "Please, Mason, and you are?" She took a few steps towards me.
"Lila Jones, I'll be accompanying you and the team to the island. I'm hear to take you to see Mr Randa." I said, turning to lead her inside. I caught a look from the general, he seems to be surprised at the fact that I would be coming along for the trip.
I lead Mason though the halls and partook in some small chat. She seemed nice enough, I wouldn't mind getting to know her a bit across the trip. Her attitude shifted slightly as we entered the main room. She immediately lifted her camera up to take a shot before heading over to Mr Randa. I gave her a slight wave before I headed off again to see if Conrad had shown yet.
I made my way outside, only to see the general standing in the same spot. I walked over and stood a little ways from him, he saw me this time and sent me a look stating he did not like me very much.
After a few minuets l started to get quite bored. I fiddled with my long brown hair and my green eyes searched the area. I was wearing a leather jacket, a tank top, some sturdy boots, and some nice jeans. A nice outfit for a tropical island, hell maybe even too warm. But for here it was starting to get cold.
Just the the General turned to me. I looked at him quietly. He had a hard face and looked at me very disapprovingly. "So, there will be another girl coming on a mission like this?" It was more of a statement then an question. When I heard it I felt my blood boil. I have often been treated differently because I am a girl. It happens often enough I've started to snap back to the remarks.
"Yes. Don't worry Sir, I'm sure your men will have no problem with it." I said somewhat sarcastically. I'm often told I look quite good so I sometimes use it to my advantage. The comment got the desired affect as the General appeared pissed.
"My men will never like working with a woman." The General glared at me. I glared back, immediate hated for the man filling me. Fortunately we both stopped talking to each other and sat in an uncomfortable silence.
It wasn't until a few minuets later that I noticed someone heading our way. A tall blond and rather good looking man was walking to us. As he got closer I was able to make out some of his features. He's hair was very blond and was sort of styled back. He had striking blue eyes and was quite fit looking. Not too fit in the way of a bodybuilder but more of a nicer athletic, yet not too much. He looked between the General and myself as he approached. I took a step forward to show I was the one to talk to.
"You Captain Conrad?" I asked though I was pretty sure I knew the answer.
"He smiled "Please, call me James. Are you my welcoming party?" I smiled slightly in response. His British accent was very clear.
"I'm Lila Jones." I extended my hand. He shook it firmly. "I'll be accompanying you to the island. But right now I'm here to take you to Mr Randa." I explained as I turned to the ramp.
"Your coming with us?" He asked sounding slightly surprised. Most people are when they find out a girl is coming along. "What do you do for a living then? A
Must be interesting for you to be coming on a trip like this.""I'm a Merc. Lot like you I guess, but I've been working for Monarch for a while." I explained as I led him through the halls.
"Oh really?" He He seemed genuinely surprised. "A lass like you, a Mercenary?"
"Yea" It's not uncommon to have that response, especially from other Mercs.
"Really." It was a statement. Though he sounded impressed. Its hard to make it in this world as a Merc, let alone a woman.
We chatted a bit before we eventuality reached the room. Most scientists where talking about leaving and setting off. Conrad looked around with some curiosity. I then saw Bill and walked James over to him. They started talking and I quietly excused myself.
I walked to where I was told my room would be, new thoughts forming and swirling around. James it is very nice, he's actually great! It's uncommon for mercs to get along together. Even if they work on the same job. Some company who understand what it's like and who isn't to hard on the eyes sounds nice.
I shook my head slightly I just met the guy. Seriously, get a grip on yourself Lila. You just met the guy. I tried to focus on other things, like how I don't know anything about the trip. Despite as I might, all my thoughts drifted back to James. I tyres to shake them off but...
Ugh, I knew this trip would be bad for me.
