A/N: These chapters might be a little short just because I originally wrote this story as one whole document in Word and i'm just cutting it up into parts. Enjoy though :)

One a.m. Laying in the worn out mattress, no sheets, no lights, no sounds, except for the soft sniffles coming from the form sprawled out on the bed. Their back is turned to the open room and their disheveled hair covers their tear-stained face. The walls of the room that were once covered in bright colored paintings, band posters, and watercolor paintings, now only show the tack holes and small doodles that are all over. The room is pitch dark, even the moonlight shining through the window seems to have disappeared.

It was the fourth time this week that she had been in this position. Breaking down in the early hours when no-one could call her the names. She'd heard them so many times. "Child", "Overreaction", "Faking it", "Asking for attention", the list could go on. It didn't matter to her anymore. She had lost all hope of getting better and at this point she just accepted the fact that it would never leave her. What is "It"? Well, everyone has on, or two, or maybe more, it depends on how messed up you are. Not everyone that has It always comes across it. However, with some people, it makes life a living nightmare.

Now some people even name these things. Demons, voices, negative thoughts, sure those names work, but they weren't what this girl was thinking. She gave the name to him when she was home alone during a thunderstorm. Her power had gone out and the TV was only showing the black and white fuzziness. She was afraid, even though she was eleven she had a fear of the thunder and lightning, she ran upstairs to her room and tried to fall asleep. Her bed seemed like the safest place possible at the time and it was. Her bedroom happened to have two small windows and she watched the rain fall hard from under her covers. The house was silent except for the sound of rain and the TV noise downstairs. Lightning struck loudly and she jumped and began crying. She felt so alone, she was so scared, the she heard it, the voice.

"Hey", it was raspy and sounded like gravel, "Why are you crying?"

"The storm is scaring me, and my parents will not be back until tomorrow" this came out as more of a whimper than a confident sentence but it got the message across, you were very scared.

"You need to stop crying, it'll be okay, I'm here"

"Who are you? What is your name?"

"I have a lot of names, call me whatever you want."

You thought for a few moments and decided on "Static." His voice was rough and it hadn't been until now that you noticed that you could no longer hear the TV noise and instead you just heard your new friends voice.

"Would you like it if I stayed with you for tonight?"

"Please, I don't want to be alone."

            "Okay, I'll stay"
