A mother is the only person in this world that needs to be treated grandly, isn’t it? In Islam mothers are highly honored. A man came to Prophet Muhammad may Allah exalt his mention and said: “O messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship?” the prophet may Allah exalt his mention said: {your mother.} the man said: “then who?” the prophet may Allah exalt his mention said: {then your mother.} the man further asked: “then who?” the prophet may Allah exalt his mention said: {then your mother.} the man said: {then your mother.} the man asked again: “then who?” the prophet may Allah exalt his mention said: {then your father}.
“You are a good for nothing a daughter of an insane woman” these words came from the society. Yes these words were so painful to me, they made me feel that I am a looser and they always repeat themselves in my mind and made me so resentful. I was a very bitter person, temperate and cold. My mother became mentally unstable just after she gave birth to me. She wanted to struggle me when I was 6 days old but then I was rescued from her and taken to my Bibi (my dad’s mother). From there I stayed with my Bibi who gave me all the love that I never felt the absence of my mother. When I was 12 my Bibi passed away, from there life changed. I could not go to my Abuba(my mom’s mother) because she was taking care of my mother. And from there I craved for my mother’s hug, kisses, love, affection and scolding. I stayed with family friends and they used to make me pay for my staying. I used to be bitten at every small mistake; I used to be called names and worst of all to be laughed at because of my mother’s illness. I used to cry day and night. I remember when I used to go to school empty stomach. With no pair of shoe but since it was just a government school no one was strict about that. All the child abuses I received made me I am today. I can’t deny that I wanted to give up at some point but then I could ask myself; will my mother forgive me for this? But then having passed all this torture I decided to ran away and go to my mother’s brother where he welcomed me with open arms. And for everything that I have today is because of ALLAH for He is most merciful. I really love my mother so much and I am very proud to tell the world about her, because it would have been impossible for me to tell my achievement in life without her mother being my strength and motivation.my mother’s smile makes my day shines. Her beauty makes me forget all my worries. And it is her mother that holds a special place in my heart that no one can ever sneak into it. The most emotional part is that, under her mother’s feet lies my Jannah. You know what; I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. And since I am the first born I will always stay strong for my sibling’s sake. And I will never despair because that could be my ticket to Jannah. Behind this smile i always wear there is untold story of SABR.
So I know how it feels to live without a mothers love. I know how it feels to handle the ‘society’ alone. I know how it feels when you are sick and you have no mother to nurse you. I know how it feels when it’s cold and you have no mother to cover you with a blanket. I know how it feels when you receive your good grades and you have no mother to share the joy with. I know how it feels when you are down but you have no mother to hug and kiss you. I know how difficult it is to be without a mother. But hey, patient..Patient..Patient is a wise man’s food and you must eat. Just focus on making your life stable and empower yourself with knowledge.
I know some people might feel uncomfortable to show their parents to their friends because of their weaknesses in terms of illness, poverty. But you should be proud that they brought a winning element in this world and that is you. A mother will go hungry for you to feed your stomach, will also walk bare foot so that she can buy you that pair of school shoe, she can also go against the whole world to defend you. Even if you are wrong she will stand confidently and say, “You are not going to treat my girl that way.” You can now see the wisdom of Islam to place a mother to a highly position compared to anyone else.
I agree with the saying that, women are better at love than men. That’s why Allah made them mothers.
