The smell of something cooking is what woke me up instead of my alarm. I tried to remember what happened last night but couldn't without getting a migrane. I flung my covers to the side as I stood up following the delicious scent wafting through the house.
I was a little scared, though, since I didn't remember inviting anyone over. My mind still drew a blank from what happened yesterday. I yawned as I stepped into the kitchen placing my hand on the wall as I rubbed my tired eyes.
"Whoever you are," I slurred, "thank you for the food. Also, I have work today so please don't kill me yet until I've earned my share in this lovely place they call Earth. Or is it Hell? Ha, I'm not even sure."
When I finished my senseless rambling I opened my eyes to find Kohl looking at me wierdly. That's when the memories of yesterday started popping up. I smacked my hand over my mouth feeling my cheeks burn as what I said ran through my brain over and over again.
"Coffee?" the poor man in front of me asked. "I think you might need it more than me."
"Yes, thank you." I replied taking the cup in his hand. "I'm so sorry. I'm not used to having anyone over."
Kohl snorted.
"I can tell. 'Whoever you are, thank you for the food. Also, I have work today so please don't kill me.' You must be lonely."
"S-shut up! That's not what I sound like!"
Kohl laughed when I slapped him on the arm from embarrassment. It was such a nice sound that I wanted to hear even more in the furture. His hair was a mess of strands sticking up all over the place while the clothes I gave him were all rumpled with wrinkles. He looked like such a carefree guy in a tank and sweatpants.
I smiled a bit through my embarrassment as I gave a shy look towards Kohl who only let out an amused sigh as he went back to cooking. I sat down at one of the bar stools that surrounded the small island in the middle of my kitchen sipping coffee while watching Kohl prepare something in front of me. When he finished he grabbed two plates from the cabinet above him and started serving the food.
When he finished he put one plate in front of me making me drool at the sight of it. A pile of fluffy scrambled eggs was lightly sprinkled with cheese that was already starting to melt with three strips of finely crisped bacon, and toasted, golden brown toast. The smell was absolutely breathetaking taking over every molecule in my body that refused to be enthralled by it.
I grabbed the fork and dug in feeling a shiver run down my spine as I felt the taste burst in my mouth.
"Oh my gachos." I whispered. "This is so freaking good."
Kohl looked up at me surprised. His cheeks were red as he averted his gaze from mine.
"You really think so?" he asked nervously scratching his cheek with a finger. "Is it that good?"
"Oh, I know so." I replied rapidly nodding my head. "This is better than take-out. Trust me, I've had good take-out, but this stuff tops it all. I didn't know you could cook this well."
"What can I say? I was taught it. Might as well use it. Am I right?"
"Indeed, Good Sir. Oh yeah, are your clothes dried?"
Kohl looked at me.
"Yes, they are." he said. "However, I just got a call from C.C. saying we can take the day off. She came down with something so the shop's going to be closed today."
"Oh, okay!" I chirped cheerfully. "Well since we have the day to ourselves how about we get you some different clothes from your house and go somewhere."
"Sounds delightful."
"Great. Wait right here and let me get changed first."
...
After stopping by Kohl's house to get his clothes we headed towards the mall. I wanted to look at the things they had and he wanted to do the same so we just ended up going there. We went into so many stores looking at stuff that caught our eyes.
By the time we finished, we ate lunch, and had four bags in our hands containing a bunch of stuff. Kohl had already put on a black beanie he bought that matched his whole monochrome style outfit and made his translucent colored eyes pop. I put on a gray GAP hoodie that I bought since it was cold, but I still looked cute in it.
While we were talking about random things a movie theater inside the mall caught my eyes. I tugged on Kohl's sleeve making him turn towards me with a questioning look. I smiled up at him as I pointed.
"Let's go watch a movie." I squealed. "They just let out this new kids movie called Zootopia and I've been dying to see it."
"Alright, alright." Kohl laughed. "C'mon then. Don't wanna be late now, do we?"
I shook my head as I pulled him towards the movie theater. He chuckled taking quicker steps than before. When we got their Kohl paid for out tickets, but not before coming to an agreement about who gets to pay what. I was the one who got to buy the popcorn and drinks.
I bought the largest bowl they had with the largest drink and dragged Kohl down the hall as soon as they came out. We both ran to the doors for the movie and opened them just as the movie started to play. We grabbed some seats and started watching the trailers while munching on some buttery popcorn and sipping on soda.
Once the movie actually started I felt an arm go around my shoulder making me smile up at Kohl as I snuggled closer to him. The lights went completely off and the opening scene came on and I watched in silence loving the feeling of Kohl's arm around me as we both watched the large screen.
