Have you ever felt someone was watching you? Have you ever thought you were meant for something more? That is exactly what I felt. My day was about to change. My name is Scarlett. I'm 17 years old. I have brown hair with a white strand. My parents are always so protective of me. It bothers me. I can't walk to school. I'm the really quiet girl. I've heard people talking behind my back. I'm the emo girl. Even some parents say it. I get fake bats in my locker and vampire teeth. Honestly, they should think of something better. I'm wearing black ripped jeans, combat boots, a royal blue shirt and a leather black jacket with a blue choker with an emerald that I feel keeps me safe. It also has a green emerald. I'm a rocker not emo. But if I was emo? So what? But know what? Whatever. I don't understand people who talk and say things. I go into my only favorite class. Singing. I use the recording booth to use the electric guitar and sing songs by Evanescence. That's when I hear it. BANG! A gun shot. I never seen this. The other students leave and so does the teacher. No one notices me. I try the handle to leave. SHIT! It's locked. The gunners look at me. They smirk and tread towards me. I trip on the cords. They shoot the door. Then out of nowhere, a mysterious person in a black mask and suit shoots at the gunners and grabs me. I'm to shocked to move. He motions me to a car on the outside of school.  "Get in a strap yourself." I can't comprehend anything so I do as he says. The person takes off the mask and he's a boy around my age. With sparkling blue eyes and black hair. "Who are you?" I finally ask. "My name is Jack. I work with the PP." I furrow my eyebrows. "PP?" He nods. "Protection Program. I'm going to protect you. Listen and pay attention. Those men work for the RFM. The 'Red Fire Men' they target people with rare gifts. You have one. Your parents now about this and I will protect you. This means we will go to a safe house and you will stay there a couple days with me until we find the leader of the RFM and bring him down. Your principle knows about this too. So as for school, you're okay and basically that's it. We are on our way to this house. Any questions?" I don't talk. "You're different, most girls freak out." I glare at him and look down.

A couple hours later....

Jack leads me inside a white colored house. "They won't find us." I step inside. I shiver. "Cmon I'll show you around." He leads me down all the rooms in the house. He first shows me the kitchen. I look around, I step on the wooden flooring. I see a blue and black refrigerator. I look inside and find milk, ginger ale and... well mainly alot of things. "Let me show you your room." He leads me to a giant room with a big bed that has a black blanket and dark green pillows. A flat black screen TV stands in front of the bed on a wooden stand. There's a stack of CDs on the cubbords linned up. I run my fingers across them. On the side there is a black leather small couch and a stand next to it with a small radio and next to that are some green headphones. "This room is costumed to your likes." Jack says. I can tell. I also see my electric guitar and equipment and a microphone. "Yeah, Thanks Jack." He smiles. "I'll be in my room. If you need me, you know where to find me." He winks and leaves. I wonder about what he said earlier 'rare gifts' what could he mean by that? I go to his room. "Hey Jack. I gotta ask you something." I look at him. He looks up from a book with a leather cover. His room is red and black with books and music everywhere. So he likes music too. "Yeah?" I ponder. "What did you mean about a 'rare gift'?" His eyebrows shoot up his head. "You don't know?" I shake my head. "See that choker?" I look at the choker. "It gives you the gift of independence, strenght, bravery and no fear." Weird. "I have one too." He pulls down his collar and I see a choker with a ruby instead of an emerald. "Though mines is of bravery. Only one. Most people have only one but you have four. That's supreme rare since rarers have only 3." Now I"m sure my eyes are as big as saucers. "Yeah I know, crazy huh?" I walk towards him. I hug his as tightly as I can. "Thank you." I start tearing up. "You saved my life." He seems surprised and hugged me tight. "Don't worry, It's my job." I let him go. He reaches into his pocket and pulls something out. "This is from your parents. They told me to gives this to you." I open it.

Our sweet daughter, our Scarlette, it is time to realize this power that your choker holds. Never give the choker to anyone, keep it in your grasp, trust Jack with your life. I apoligize, but had to keep this from you. We understand if you are angry, upset or feel betrayed. But stand strong dear daughter. We need to keep you safe. We will see each other again, I promise. Though it may take a while. My sweet Scarlette, you cannot contact us. It is vital to your safety. I'm sorry dear. Take the white bracelet that comes in this message. Both your father and I have kissed it and poured all of our love in it. I love you sweet and dear Scarlette. We are never far. I love you. Stay with Jack, he will protect you and once again. I love you dear daughter of ours.

                                                                                             -Mom and Dad

I clutch the paper against my chest and cry. Jack reaches out and puts his arms around me. He shushes me. "Hey shush, It's okay." I slip on the bracelet.

For you mom and dad....
