It was the year 1919.
Deep within the walls of Hogwarts, in the Ravenclaw dormitory, a raven-haired girl glanced at a photo of a family of 3 waving happily at the camera with a grand mansion as the backdrop. She sighed wearily. Stuffing the photo into her pocket, she zipped up the suitcase beside her. With her suitcase, she strode to the Great Hall, where they would be dismissed for the school holidays.
She was certainly not looking forward to going back to that dreary muggle orphanage.
____________________________________A few years later...
A young woman stood up from her seat in the cafe, exited through the creaking door and stepped into the afternoon Munich street.
She silently started walking. Indeed, what had caught her eye was a ginger-haired man with no particular features that really stood out. She was eyeing the man as she followed him through the crowded street.
Jostling muggles aside, she inconspicuously pulled a acacia wand from her pocket.
What happened next was just a blur of colour, incomprehensible by the unskilled eyes of the onlooking muggles.
Following a loud 'bang' of magic colliding against magic, colours and lights swirled between the young woman and the redheaded man. Their wands swished in the air fiercely as streams of spells poured from them like running water.
The man suddenly smirked.
Barely a moment later, both man and woman were gone.

The man slowly lost his smirk and a ferocious snarling expression overtook his features, comparable to the determination written on the woman's face.
"How did you find me, girl?"
The young woman did not reply. Instead, a few seconds later, men and women appeared in the vicinity with small 'pops'. They rushed into the duel to support the young woman.
Cursing under his breath, the man turned on the spot and disapparated.
What he did not expect was the young woman appearing and blasting an expelliarmus at his face when he landed from apparition.
____________________________________Gellert Grindelwald was having a bad day.
First, a little part in his plan for Adolf Hitler had gone wrong. All thanks to his lieutenant, Edel Brandt. Gellert had seen to his punishment, but the mistake Brandt make still remains. He would have to work thrice as hard to make up for it.
Second, a trusted ensign has been captured by the French magical government. As usual, more work for his other subordinates.
The third point of his bad day was happening then.
He had just been out walking on a Munich street, disguised as a redheaded muggle--filthy muggles--airing his frustration from the day's events. Out of the blue, a young witch, probably freshly out of a magical institution, started a duel with him on the street, right there and then.
He was used to surprise attacks, obviously, when you're are wanted, dead or alive by the whole wizarding world, you would be. What shocked him was how the witch was able to evade detection when he was sure he had the most powerful magical senses that there was. The young witch also impressed Gellert with her skill, holding her own against him for half a minute, an already impressive feat. Yet, she was tons younger than him.
After he disapparated from the witch and the bunch of Aurors she had summoned, imagine his shock when he saw the young witch apparate in front of him and shoot him a disarming spell.
Gellert had certainly underestimated this young woman.
Especially in the mind arts.
However, if he were to get down to business, he knew he could crush her like a bug.
Gellert blocked the disarming spell easily. Then, he reversed the tracking spell put on her by the Aurors and started dueling her once more.
10 minutes later, the woman was finally felled.
