Toby's POV

Happy: 33 Weeks

Happy walks into the house and looks at me with shock. I smile and she sees a small chocolate lab puppy sitting in a crate. She looks at me in awe, but her eyes suddenly become narrow.

"Toby, I love this, but how stupid can you be?!" Happy scolds me. I listen to her words carefully before freezing. All I can do is stare at her and then I remember those exact words coming out of my mother's mouth. I was only eighteen back then and I had just gotten my mother a new car for her birthday. I bought it with my own gambling money, but yet, i still get yelled at...I snap back into reality when Happy calls my name. I look at her and all I can see is the image of my mother yelling at me. Tears start to fall as I back away from her. She steps forward and looks at me with sadness. "Toby, I'm sorry. I love you. So much." She apologizes.

"Don't. Don't do this. Don't become like my mother."  I say. Happy looks confused for a few seconds and then it finally clicks. She makes a face that expresses guilt and pity. "Don't do that either. I don't need your pity. Please. Can you just leave me alone for a while?" I beg.

"No. I'm not leaving, Toby. No matter how hard you try to push me away, I will not leave. I'm sorry that I did that, but it's the stupid pregnancy hormones. I will never be like your mother. You know that. Thank you for the puppy, I love him. I was just mad because we are having a baby soon and it's going to be hard having to take care of both of them." Happy sighs as she finishes.

"I know. I'm sorry for freaking out earlier. It's just that I kind of invited my parents over to see the new house this week. They should be here in an hour. I hope that they have changed. A lot." I sigh and shrug my shoulders. Happy comes over to me and hugs me. We hold each other for a while and before we know it, the doorbell rings. I go to the door and brace myself for what is about to happen. I open the door to see a blond woman who is slightly shorter than I am holding two duffle bags. Beside her is a dark haired, six-foot tall, and slightly chubby man holding a suitcase and a brief case.

"What a wonderful house this is, Tobias." I cringe when my mother uses my full name in a soft tone. Happy then walks to my side and leans her body against mine.

"Thank you. And, um...this is my fiancé, Happy Quinn." I say, introducing Happy to my parents. They force smiles and shake hands. My family is very welcoming. As you can tell. I look over to my mother and see her staring at Happy's stomach. But before Happy notices, I speak up.

"Happy, why don't you show my father around the house. I need to talk to my mother for a minute." She nods and politely takes my father on a tour.

"Tobias Curtis, your fiancé is very um...fat. I sure hope that she is just fat and not some woman who got knocked up from a  one night stand." Very subtle, mother. It'll just get worse once you hear the truth, I think to myself.

"Well, she is actually pregnant...I'm the father." My mother's eyes widen and her face turns red.

"You got her pregnant?!" Her voice echoes throughout the house.

"He got you pregnant?! Before you're married?! What a disgrace!" My father's voice booms throughout the house. What a perfect couple these two are. Happy looks at me and I look at her apologetically.

"Yes." I say confidently. I look up to see my furious parents whispering to each other. Once their conversation is over, my mother dials a number on her phone and walks outside. A few minutes later, she comes back in.

"Tobias. We are very disappointed in you. And you..." She looks at Happy. Happy lays her head on my chest and tears start to fall from our eyes. "Which is why you are no longer our son. We are sending you away, Tobias. Happy can stay here, for she is suffering from your mistakes already. Poor thing looks like she swallowed a blown up balloon. You can return when you get better  and when you have realized that what you have done was wrong." My ex-parents look at me once more with disappointment before leaving. Worst. Day. Ever. Happy and I stand there crying and holding each other. I hear a knock on the door a few minutes later. I open it and see two big men standing at the door.

"Tobias Curtis. We are taking you to a rehab facility for your gambling addiction and your terrible mistakes. You will return when you are allowed to." I look at Happy and cry even more.

"I'm so sorry. I love you. I will come back soon, I promise." I kiss her goodbye and follow the men out the door. I hear Happy shout "I love you too", but it's too late to reply. The men were way bigger than me, so it was no use to try and run away. They lead me to a black van and shove me in. The ride was about fifteen minutes long. I hate my ex-parents. They never cared for me. They never loved me. To them, I was just a big mistake. Good thing I have my own little family now. I know that I'm not with them right now, but I will be soon. I miss them so much. The van pulls up into the driveway of a rehab center and the doors open.

"Time to get out of the van." One guy speaks. I nod and jump out. They hold onto my arms and push me to walk faster.

"Take it easy. It's not like I'm excited to be here." I say jokingly, but truthfully.

"Very funny, wise-guy." The guy on my right says while chuckling at my comment.

"At leat I'm trying, okay?"

"Yeah, I guess." The guy replies and our conversation ends. I walk through the doors and see a short Asian woman wearing glasses behind the desk.

"Tobias?" She asks.

"Yes." I reply.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Lyka. I will be checking your progress during your time here. If you make good progress, you can go home within the next two weeks. Come on, follow me. I will take you to your unit and show you your room." We walk six-hundred-twenty-nine feet before reaching my unit. It takes another thirty-seven feet to get to my room. Lyka opens my door and points inside of the room. "Welcome to your room. This is your roommate." She points to an occupied bed. I look in to see who my roommate is and you'll never guess who it is. The one and only Mark Collins.
