Prologue

I can’t seem to forget this one particular occasion in my life. I remember that it was a cloudy day and I was six years old when it happened. The earth is soft under my tight shoes and my black coat felt heavy on my shoulders. My hands were clenched at my sides and I was biting my lip - hard enough that I could taste blood in my tongue - to keep myself from breaking down but that didn’t stopped the tears from coming. My eyes stung whenever I blink and the wind dries the fresh tears on my cheeks and blows my specially arranged hair backwards.

I stared down at my father’s grave and at my mom who is kneeling in front of it. She has been crying almost non-stop for the past few days and I think there’s no more tears to cry so she just sniff and mutter words; talking and cursing my dead dad for leaving us. She promised that she’ll take good care of me and that she’ll never forget what happened. That was also the day that I promised that I’ll never acknowledge the word ‘love’.

Since then, I believe that I’ll never find the only exception in 7 billion people breathing on this planet…

…Well, not until now.
