The sound of the rustling trees ruled over the silence of Geffen that night. Winds coming through the Mt. Mjolnir range passes through the town, leaving the wizards some chills.
Sophie seated at the large window of Wizard Magic Academy, located at the center of the city. The young warlock let out a big sigh as she looked the moon above. Its almost ten minutes before midnight. This scene was exactly the same since that special night.
The night when she made a promise with someone special.
Behind her, a figure appear from the shadows. A young warlock, few older than Sophie walks towards her and leaned on the walls facing the other side of the room.
Sophie took a deep breath and rest her head on the side of the window.
"It's been five years,", Sophie said in a calm matter.
The young man smiled a bit, "Its been a while, isn't it?"
"I never thought I would be running back to this place. After you left, I really didn't know what to do.I never felt so alone in my entire life. The very first person that I loved was gone and I didn't have anyone else".
"I was so confused back then, so many dreams. The thing that came to my mind back then was to join in a guild to fulfill it. My happiness, in my very own hands... But I was wrong".
Sophie turned around to face the other side of the room, still seated on the window. "What is done is done. I just came here tonight to fulfill that promise".
The man closed his eyes and feel the cold wind. It seems like this wind brought not only coldness but good memories. "I shouldn't left you"
"I know that no matter what I would have said, it will never change your mind. The spirit of adventuruous, carefree and curious that lingers on you", Sophie chuckled. "One of the things that I like".
"Too late in my life I've learned the true meaning of happiness. My happiness? is sitting right beside me."
"When you let go of my hand and promised to meet here again; the place where we first met, the place when we both took our wizard exam, I spend five years preparing for this night," Sophie said in a sad tone.
The man warlock seated next to Sophie, hold her hands and look at the girl with eyes most affectionate. "But it doesn't have to be that way. The bliss that I was looking for was in the hands of the person that I had left. I came back because I want you, Sophie".
Tears started to accumulate in Sophie's eyes,"I just want you to know that I never stopped loving you. My heart keeps calling to unanswering heartstring..."
The young man put his arms around Sophie, "I love you Sophie, I'll end up your suffering from this day, onwards. I am here for you, now and forever."
Tears starts rolling down to Sophie's cheeks. It flowed down and dropped on her hands placed upon her lap.
"You should forget about me. Maybe I should too"
Flock of ravens flew away as the clock struck twelve. The sad tone of Sophie's words filled the city with an atmosphere of heaviness. The young man's jaw dropped. Still strucked by Sophie's words, no words came out of his mouth. The woman warlock tugged a shining pendant out of her neck. It was a pendant that had given to her when they first met. She closed her teary eyes, faced the window and threw the small pendant out of the tower. The pendant shatters as it landed to the ground.
Sophie got up from her position then started to walk away from the window. The man finally got the courage to follow. He ran and threw himself into her back. Insted of feeling her warmth he ended up hugging nothing but thin air. He passed right through her.
It was the only time he knew that she probably didn't know that he was beside her all of this time.
Sophie felt the cold wind that suddenly brushed against her body. She knew it wasn't from the mountains. She suddenly smiled to herself,
" I knew you'd be there. Thank you for listening. Goodbye Mikhail. You'll always be in my heart,
forever and always."
