I am busy working on my biology project about some rare frog found in the rainforests. Mrs. Jackson sure knows how to make our weekends interesting, I thought grimly.
The house was eerily silent with my parents out on their, as dad said and I quote "much needed date" because " this old man needs some action once in a while" that last statement made both mom and me choke on our drinks this morning, which was followed by dad's laughter.
Honestly I too think they needed that date to cool things off a little. They've been fighting more often now and it just sucks because I know how much they love each other.
As I start to re-read the essay I had just written, the sharp ring of the door bell startled me.
Who would be visiting the house at this ungodly hour? I made my way down the stairs to the front door. As I swing open the door I see two police officers.
"How may I help you?" I ask them as politely as possible, even though I know when the police visit you at 1:32 am it is not going to be for pleasantries.
When they gave me the sympathetic look I knew, I don't know how but i did. "Are you Tracy Hayes?"
"yes"
"I'm sorry to inform you Ms. Hayes but your parents were involved in an accident and are in the taken in the hospital" The officer with the dark blond hair spoke giving me another sympathetic look.
I felt a pang in my heart as he said that.
I was frozen on the door step. I could see the officer's lips moving I couldn't hear anything.
"Miss Hayes, are you okay?" the officers whose name tag read Gills asked.
I gave him a sharp look and so did the blonde officer whose name tag was hidden the woollen scarf he was wearing.
"Blondie here just told me my parents were in a hospital and I don't even know if it was severe enough to kill them or just a minor accident and they will come out of this with a few surgeries and a broken bone. What if one of them is already dead as we speak I have no clue what so ever and you're asking me if I'm okay. No I'm most certainly not okay Gills" I reply almost seething.
Gills had gone red in the face and I could see the fear in his eyes, and the Blondie just looks shocked. But he recovered soon.
"I'm sorry for him Ms. Hayes he's new to the force and still learning." Blondie apologized and asked me if I needed a ride to the hospital to which I said yes.
