I Lied, We're Going

The next morning when I woke up, I took a quick shower. Once I got out, I braided my silky damp hair into a high pony tail, before putting on some black work out pants that stuck close to my skin,  and a black tank top. I hadn't even gone a week at my new school, and I was already leaving? Well hey, at least no close connections. I then made my way back to my bedroom and instantly packed an extra outfit, along with a few things that I would need, such as a tooth brush, hair brush, etc.

Yup, you guessed it right. I'm leaving. I thought about it last night. They had no right to take us from our home, and then force us into a new one, then split us apart without proper reasoning. It wasn't right. No, this wasn't right. None of this was. Something was wrong with the entire system. Their entire way of holding us here, making everything so sneaky and mysterious. There was no way in hell I was going to let my little sister be shipped off somewhere else. I'm her big sister. I made her a promise. I promised to her, when we were first taken, that we were going to get home. The best part was, I told her I would be the one to make sure we did.

I heard a soft sleepy grumble, coming from the bed beside me. It was Cj's. Wow, she was a light sleeper. I was going to leave before anyone could find out I was gone. "River? What are you doing..?" Her voice was a bit groggily.

"Huh? Nothing. Just going on a morning jog. Just real quick." I quickly replied, a smile plastered onto my face to decorate my porcelain looking features.

"At..." The ginger girl glanced at the clock on her bedside, "Four A.m.?"

I rolled my eyes. Why couldn't she just go back to sleep? "I like early jogs."

Cj soon sat up and stretched, which earned a scowl from myself. She looked at the bag, then my seemingly innocent face. Her smile dropped as she narrowed her brown eyes at my green ones. "You're leaving aren't you? I knew you would leave as soon as I heard that your sister left. Dimitri and I talk often you know, he told me how he convinced you to stay the first time. Why don't you just stay here where it's safe?"

"I'm not going to stay here. I made a promise to Raylin, and I plan on keeping it. I'm not going to stay in a place when I don't even know why I'm here to begin with, as my little sister is being dragged off and probably brain washed. Everything," I paused and shook my head as if to correct myself, "no, everyone, is suspicious. There's something up with it. Men in black suits are scattered around every place I go. Haven't you noticed that?"

Silence was blanketed around the room. I glanced at the clock. I didn't know how early everyone normally woke up around here on a school day, but I didn't want to stay and find out. Finally, Cj's voice was soft when she spoke.

"I was only seven when they took me from my home," Her brown eyes that seemed to carry excitement everywhere now seemed so lifeless; so miserable. "I'm coming with you."

Before I could even protest, she got out of bed and began to change, which caused me to turn away. I didn't exactly like seeing another girls body. Especially if it was mine. It had nothing to do with her, it was just the way I was. Wait, no. She can't go with me.

"Cj, you can't go." I said quickly, not looking back until I heard her unzipping a bag and shoving things inside of it. "I don't know where exactly I'm starting. It'll just waste your time, and if we run into the men there might be a bit of violence." That was an understatement. Once I had my mind set to something, I was pretty sure I was going to do it.

"I'm coming, and that's final." Cj slumped her back pack filled with clothes and other things over her shoulder before she walked into the hallway.

"Cj, what are you-"

"I'm waking Dimitri up. He's not gonna be happy if we just leave him." Cj whispered back, tip toeing into his room and waking him up.

The pair bickered for a bit before falling silent and glancing back at me. Dimitri muttered, "Go get the files."

We had gotten lucky that Dimitri's room mate was staying the night elsewhere, but he quickly shoved Cj out, and shut his door. I assumed he was changing. Cj didn't even look at me before she turned around and made it down the hall, stopping in front of a door that warned us to stay out. It was Judy's office.

"Okay, wait here. I'm going to go get the file cabinet keys, you're going to go into her office, open the file cabinet, and grab the files that say Raylin, and River. Got it? After that, you have to sneak it back into her room while we grab her keys and finish getting our stuff." Cj spoke quickly, but the words stuck to my mind.

In seconds, she disappeared but made it back towards me. Doing as she said, she dropped a golden key in my hand, and snuck over to Dimitri's room to help him pack. Silently, I fiddled with the key before slowly opening the door with a soft creak. I set my bag down outside of the door, and tip toed my way into the office, before unlocking the cabinet. My delicate fingers leapt over files, before landing on Raylin's. Luckily, mine was next to her's, so I grabbed mine to. I wanted to grab theirs, but I think they already grabbed it, since it wasn't in there. I softly close the door and cabinet as I left, before creeping into Judy's room. Judy was snoring loudly, as I softly set the keys beside her beside.

Her eyes softly fluttered open before her chocolate brown ones met my own. "River..?" She muttered, in the same tone Cj had at first.

My bright green eyes widened before I sped walked out of there, whispering as I walked by there room, "Judy is up..!" They quickly got off the bed they had been sitting on, both carrying a bag and Dimitri carrying car keys. I grabbed my bag on the way out.

Just as we made it into the car, with Dimitri as the driver, Judy was at the front porch, furiously yelling and shaking her fist. She started to run off the porch, but before she could, we booked it out of the driveway.

I opened the files. To find my sister.
