Part 5

"Thanks for driving me home."

"You're welcome." He said.

"Umm...," I started to tell him about the witch thing but stopped,"never mind."

"Paris, what is it?" He said with creased brows.

"I have to tell you something, but not now. Can you come here around eleven?" I asked.

"Yea I'll come after I grab a bite to eat." He said while showing his fangs.

"Thanks for the wonderful image put into my head. Just be safe and try not to get staked in the heart?"

"I'll be careful." He kissed me before I got out of his truck and I watched as it drove away.

I opened the door and was greeted by my best friend Sam.

"Hi girl did you miss me?" I said while scratching behind her ear.

"It's about time you showed up." My grandmother says.

"Yea sorry I was still with Josh."

"You really like him don't you."

"I don't know what it is, it's like we're suppose to be together, but that's crazy right?"

"So it has happened I knew something was different about you." She said.

"What has happened Nana?"

"You've found your mate."

All of this news about being a witch and now Josh being my mate is making me crazier than normal. Nana led me to the couch and sat down next to me.

"About 200 years ago there was a time when vampires, werewolves, witches, and the other magical creatures lived in harmony, when everybody mated with different creatures, your great-great- grandmother fell in love with a werewolf. She loved him with all of her heart, but he didn't love her because he was in love with a vampire. She was so angry that she cast a spell making sure witches could only love witches. Once in a while there would be a crack in the spell and a witch would start loving another creature and that's what happened to you."

"Woah Nana that's a lot to take in and how is it that I was born because Kevin isn't supernatural."

"I wish you wouldn't call your father that, but there's more too tell you."

I stayed silent not wanting to say anything about that man.

"There are witch hunters who want us dead, they know all about us and they will find you."

"Nana I just need to lay down and take all of what you're saying in."

"Wait before you go, Sam come here."

Sam walks inane looks at my grandmother and she nods.

"Hi Paris." Sam said.

"Baby Sam is your protector."

"Holy fucking shit."

"Paris!" my grandmother scolded.

"I just need to lay down.I'm gonna be sick."

I get up from the couch and head upstairs to my room. I take a long shower and put on some sweats with a black cami. I laid down in bed and fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up it was dark outside.

"My head is pounding." I said aloud.

"You want an Aspirin?"

"Josh! Stop sneaking up on me." I screamed.

"I'm sorry I thought you wanted me to come?"

"What...what time is it?"

"It's 11:50" he stared at me for a while before continuing,"you look pale. Are you okay?"

"Sure why wouldn't I be okay, I just found out my dog talks, I'm a witch, you're my mate, and people are coming to kill me, so I'm just peachy." I said with anger in my voice.

Josh walked over to the bed and pulled me into his arms.

"I wouldn't let anyone hurt you." he said as I cried into his arms.

After I finished telling him about my heritage and what I am we just laid down in silence, his arms still wrapped around me making me feel safe.

"That's why I can't read your mind." he said to hisself.

"I don't want to talk anymore."

I leaned over and kissed him surrendering my body, soul, and mind to him.

"I love you Paris."

My heart skipped a beat, I don't know how this relationship will work out but I'm willing to try.

"I love you too Josh."

The next day I woke up and went straight to the bathroom, Josh was still sleep.

I turned on the shower and hopped in the water stung against my skin which in a way was very refreshing. I washed all my stress away. I stepped out of the shower and got a burst of hot steam to my face. I looked in the mirror at the symbol on my neck it was a crest of two swords with a halo over them. I stepped out of the bathroom in my pink towel and head towards the closet.

"Good morning beautiful." Josh said while kissing my neck.

  "will I ever get use to you scaring me to death?" I asked him trying to hide my smile.

  "Are you going to work today?"

  "Yes, I have to work to pay my bills."

  "Can't you just stay here me?"he questioned.

  "I wish baby." The word made my mouth tingle, I loved saying it. I kissed him long and hard.

"Go get dressed." He said as he slapped my butt.

"Josh!" I yelled in excitement.

I finally picked some jeans and a shirt with Mickey Mouse ears on it. I wrapped my hair up in a bun,put my jewelry on and headed down stairs.

  "Good morning Paris." Sam said.

I had to pinch myself to make sure I was still awake. This is going to take a little time to accept that I have a talking dog.

"Good morning Sam. Are you hungry?"

"I'm starving." She said.

I went to the pantry to get Sam's food out.

  "So...Your my guardian? How come I never knew?"

  "Some things were too complicated for you and you were not ready to hear the truth."

Once I told my mom that Sam could talk and she said that it was all in my head. Nobody wanted to play with me because they thought I was crazy but I knew that I wasn't imagining it.

Josh pulled me back into the present when he was asking me something.

  "Hey babe, have you seen...What is that awful smell?" Josh asked holding his nose.

  "Sorry, I took a bath. I forgot that vampires have sensitive noses."Sam stated.

Okay let clear this up for myself, my boyfriend happens to be a vampire, I'm a witch, and my dog can talk and happens to be my guardian...Well Gale did say exciting things need to happen to me. Is this exciting enough?

  "Well, I better go to work before I'm late."

  "Okay babe, I'm going to get something to eat."Josh said with his bloodshot eyes.

  "Have fun with that."  I said sarcastically.

  "Bye Paris."

  "Bye Sam...be good."

I got into my car and drove to work. When I walked in everybody was staring at me.

   "Hi sweetie." Gale said coming from behind the counter to hug me.

   "What's going on around here?"

Gale pulled me to the back, into the locker room.
