How does a day that's barely started... already seem boring? Leslie thought as she turned off her alarm clock. It was six o'clock in the morning, and she was definitely not ready to face the same boring day.
Leslie got out of bed, looking for clothes automatically. She slept in her underwear, because she thought it was more comfortable, and she heard it was healthy on the radio one time. She opened her drawer and pulled out a dress that had a purple cat on it, with a blue infinity sign on its head. She loved that dress. A friend got it for her before she moved away.
As she started to change, she heard her dog, Fletch, come running down the hallway. She thought it was cute every morning when she woke up, she would hear tap tap tap, as the dog ran to her. The small little black puggle wiggled its tail as it jumped onto Leslie. She giggled and picked her dog up after she put the dress on. "Hey, Fletch! Did you sleep well?" She asked the dog. It licked her face in response, making her giggle.
Leslie put her dog down and grabbed her phone. "Bye sweetheart. I'll be home when I get home..." She sighed, then walked out. She never knew when she would get home. She would always be forced to stay late to clean the place, which was always worse than the day before.
Something please just happen....--------------------
When Leslie arrived at the cafe, she looked at the boring building that had no colors. Just white and black. She sighed and walked up to it. "I could get a different job, but no one would except a small chubby girl..." She said to herself. Leslie walked into the building and saw no one in there yet. That was unusual. She looked at the worker at the counter. "Arlo! I'm glad you're working today! I'm so bored already..." She huffed. Arlo made boring days slightly less boring. He told her stories, never saying if they were real or not. Some seemed very fake, and some were kind of hard to tell. "Leslie. I'm like your best friend... you should know the days I work and don't work..." He said with an evil grin. He always made her feel guilty. Leslie frowned. "Alright then...What's my schedule?" She asked him. Arlo stuck his tongue out. He didn't know
"Ha. You failed today" She giggled. Arlo made a proud chuckle. "What's my last name, Leslie?" He asked. Crap. She didn't know that. She never bothered to ask, and he never bothered to tell her. Her eyes started to look around for his name. She did not want to lose this. That's when she spotted it. He's always the best employee here. "Your full name is Arlo Rodriguez," Leslie said proudly. Arlo mumbled to her answer. "Whatever...No story for you today"
"You can't do that! It's so boring here!" Leslie whined.
"Well, that's your fault."
"I hate you." Leslie sighed
"No, you don't. You love me. You're going to date a girl version of me one day." He said with his eyes closed, and his index finger up.
Right. A girl version of him. Arlo asked Leslie out once, and she felt so bad because she wasn't into guys. She liked him, but she didn't like him. Leslie laughed at his joke. "Yeah..." She felt awkward when he brought her sexuality, but he didn't stop. Arlo tilted his head. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Just bored," Leslie responded. "I wish something exciting would just happen..." She continued. Arlo chuckled. "I feel like you wouldn't be normal in bed" Leslie's face turned red to that. "Don't say that, you weirdo!" She hit his shoulder lightly, which only made him laugh more.
"Uhm... excuse me?" A voice said at the door. The two employees turned their heads to face the voice. There stood a girl with light pink hair, that was pulled back into a bun, and light green eyes. Her skin was very pale, her freckles were stood out so much, just as her dark red lipstick. Arlo and Leslie were very interested in her choice of lipstick. So dark, but it fit her so well.
"Y-Yes ma'am? How can I help you?" Leslie asked while looking at her green eyes. The girl smiled. "I want a bagel. With strawberry jam please." She said. Leslie nodded and pushed Arlo to go do it. Arlo winked at Leslie, and she knew what that meant. Leslie smiled at the girl, who she thought was absolutely beautiful. "My name's Emmerson. Your's?" The girl asked.
"Leslie...Nice to meet you" She said quietly. Emmerson put her hand out, and Leslie awkwardly shook it. People don't do this when they come into cafes. Arlo came back out with a bagel and a small plastic, but a fancy jar of strawberry jelly. Emmerson smiled brightly and took it, then walked over to a table.
"She didn't pay..." Leslie whispered
"Then why'd you let her sit down?" Arlo asked
"I...I don't know."
"Because you want to get in her pants"
"Arlo!" She punched his shoulder, making him laugh once again.
Leslie sighed and stared at the green eyed. She stared for a while, till she was caught. Emmerson smiled in response. Then her eyes flashed pink before she turned back to her bagel. Leslie's eyes widened. "A-Arlo? Did you see that?" She asked.
"See what?"
"H-Her eyes. They turned pink for a second..." Leslie said with a swallow
That made Arlo chuckle. "Les, you're seeing things..."
That was not true. Leslie doesn't see things. She was known for her keen eye. She knows what she saw, and mumbled. It didn't bother her, she was interested, and it's something. Something that's not boring.
