No words could make up for the amount of shock I was feeling after hearing those words slip out through Kohl's lips. I tried to look him in the eyes again to see if he was joking, but he was looking everywhere but at me. It was almost as if he didn't want to see what my emotions were.
"How?" I choked. "How did this happen to you? Were you the cause for all those criminal murders?"
"I don't know, Aidyn." Kohl said. "All I remember is being taken to a research facility against my own will and waking up insanely hungry for flesh. I remember my first taste of human flesh that they fed to me while I was chained up inside that cell that was completely white."
I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I listened to Kohl's story.
"You don't understand the anger and sadness I felt. I cried while I buried my teeth into human skin calling myself a monster over and over again. It was horrifying. When I escaped it took years to quench this hunger until I no longer felt it. I was then able to eat human food to further rid of the hunger. However, it still doesn't hide the fact I'm one of them."
Tears were flowing down my face fiercely by the time Kohl finished his story. He spent all those years alone with no one to help him tame the beast that threatened to take over at any given moment. It pained me to see him like this.
He was so broken on the inside, yet no one could tell. He had to keep it a secret; otherwise, he would've been killed. The thought made more tears spill out of my eyes as a strangled sob burst through my lips alerting Kohl. His eyes widened as he saw my distressed self and I thought I heard a whine come from his throat.
"Aidyn." Kohl worriedly whispered wiping away a tear with his thumb. "I'm so sorry for keeping this from you. You seemed so scared yesterday I just couldn't bring myself to tell you."
"No." I sobbed. "No, don't apologize. You don't deserve to apologize for what you did. You've done nothing wrong."
Kohl put both of his hands on my cheeks wiping the tears away. He seemed to be on the verge of crying as I noticed a glint in his eyes as he looked at me. His mouth opened to forms words but none came out.
"Y-you don't understand." he stuttered. "I'm a monster. Every fiber of my being craves flesh like yours. Why stay with a no good person like me?"
"Because I can't forget you now. You're stuck in my mind with no escape to remove yourself from its hold."
"Stop this, Aidyn."
"No, you stop this. I'm not going to leave you. Not after all that's happened to us."
"Aidyn, please."
"No."
Kohl looked at me with tears now streaming down his face. He looked me straight in my eyes pulling me closer to him.
"Please." he whispered.
I just put my arms around him feeling him tense up under my touch. I ran my fingers through his dark hair relaxing him little by little until his chin rested ony shoulder and he wrapped his arms lazily aroud my waist. The choppy breaths were the only thing that alerted me that he was still awake.
It took a few minutes for us to calm down and by the time we did it was already midnight. I let out a yawn exhausted from emptying my tear ducts. I gave a nudge to Kohl feeling him tighten his grip around me. I smiled down at him as I leaned down to plant a kiss on his temple.
Kohl snapped his head putting his hand where I had kissed him and I realized then what I did. My cheeks started burning as I turned my face trying to hide it. I was a stuttering mess as I tried to explain myself only to hear Kohl laugh as he pulled me closer to him making me straddle his lap.
He smiled up at me as I looked down at him with a soft expression while brushing my fingers through his hair. He rubbed his head against my hand making me giggle at the action. He was acting cute.
He closed his eyes for a bit while a soft rumble went through his entire. Kohl Burns had just purred. I had to hold back a laugh as I heard the audible vibrations from his throat. If this was who he was as a monster then I was definately going to keep him.
Kohl snapped open his eyes as if he just remembered something and looked at me. I gave him a questioning smile to which he just shook his head in response signalling nothing wrong. Instead he opened his mouth.
"Promise me you won't back out now that you're with me." he murmured leaning in. "I've told you everything about me and now I want to know what lies inside your mind. Your memories. Your heart."
With his last two words whispered he placed his hand over my heart feeling the distinct beating of it. He dragged my hand down from his neck to his chest where his heart lied telling a story of its own. I couldn't help but smile when I felt it.
When I looked back at Kohl his face had gotten closer until our lips were a few centimeters apart. I could feel his warm breath fan over my face as he moved his hands back to gently cup my face. He pulled me closer to him until I could feel his lips just slightly graze over mine hearing the low growl that bubbled pass them.
"No turning back." he whispered sending shivers down my spine as I looked into his eyes that shone with love.
Then, before I could say anything, his lips pressed against mine signalling the start of a very wild night.
