Sorry for that last one (not really but...). This is an AU about Rowan and Aelin at the circus. Lots of fluff (including actual cotton candy). Rowan's perspective.
He didn't know how Aelin enjoyed this. OK, maybe the horses were cool, but still. The clowns? Either freaky or boring or both. Why couldn't they just go to the movies or something? He was about to ask Aelin this, when she squealed and jumped up and down.
"What is it?" he demanded grumpily.
She turned to face him. The reason we came to the circus besides the acts is cotton candy. She pulled him over to a cart he hadn't noticed.
"What's that?"
"I told you. Cotton candy." She bought two from the vendor. "Try it. It's REALLY GOOD!"
"You eat too much sugar. And your lips are blue."
"Please?"
"No. Can we leave?"
She just looked at him. "We just got started! There's more acts, glow sticks, and this circus even has a fairground."
"UUUUGGGGHHHHHHH."
"Do you really not like it? You must have liked the animals."
"OK, OK, the horses were cool, but the rest? YAWN."
"Plllleeeeaaaaseeee," she begged. "Let's just try the rollercoaster."
"I do not like the sound of that."
She looked a bit downcast. "Alright, we can leave." A wicked grin widened on her face and Rowan groaned internally. "But you have to try the cotton candy."
He almost leaped away in shock. "NO WAY. That stuff must be killing your teeth, and how does just sugar taste good, and it's probably full of chemicals and I--"
She folded her arms across her chest, a surprising feat, since she was carrying two rolls of cotton candy, and looked up at him. "Make your choice."
He sighed, but he wanted to make her happy. "Cotton candy." She handed him a roll and took a bite of her own, now mostly empty. He steeled himself, and took a bite.
Oh gods. This must be what heaven feels like. He closed his eyes and smiled dreamily, the blue sugar dissolving in his mouth. Oh gods.
"So... you like it?" Aelin's voice snapped him back to earth.
"What?! No..."
She grinned, showing blue teeth. Lets go see the rest of the circus, then maybe I can convince you to go on the rollercoaster with me. She linked her fingers in his and pulled him back to their seats in the circus tent. And Rowan actually enjoyed it.
