Jessica's P.O.V...........

"Jessica, time for bed!" said Mom. "Hold on!" I said and shoved my guitar under my bed. The door opened and mom walked in soothing her shirt and sat at the edge of my bed. "I love you," said Mom as she kissed my forehead and pulled the covers up to my neck. "Mom," I said grabbing the edge of the blanket,"When will dad get home?" " When he's done mining, or cheating," she whispered the last part. "What?" I asked pretending I didn't here. "Nothing, get some sleep," she said and arose. I pulled my hands from out under the blankets to cool off for a second. Mom closed the door and I waited until her footsteps faded before I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

  "You'll have to eat at school today," said mom closing the cabinet. "What?! Nobody ever sits with me," I shouted and at that moment my dad walked in and swooped me off my feet. "Josh, her school clothes are getting dirty!" said my mom and my dad let me down. He walked towards her and mom raised her hand and pushed him away. "Take a shower, Josh!" she said and stormed into the living room. Me and dad exchanged glances and shrugged at the same time. "She's overreacting," I assured him and he patted my head. "Great minds think alike, squirt!" he said and went to his and mom's room. Honk! The bus was here, finally. First day of school, here I come. I ran out into the yard and up the steps to the bus. Ansley sat in one seat and Julie and Kate sat in the other. Apparently Scarlet wasn't here so I joined Ansley. "Hey," I said and she just paid attention to her phone. She was one of the popular girls, of course. The bus started moving and I stared at the back of the seat and somebody tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw Cody. "Spot's open." he claimed and patted the spot by him. Cody was the cutest person in the whole world and I totally adored him, but he had a girlfriend, Samantha. I sat down by him and he smiled. "So where's Samantha?" I asked. "Well, Sam, Is with her BFF Scarlet,"said said Cody. But Scarlet is my best friend, I thought. I guess my face was going white because Cody looked at me and asked,"Are you okay?" Then the bus came to a halt in front of Harman Middle School. We fled to our lockers and I walked by Cody to mine and then we split up. I hoped the feeling of him would never go away. Unfortunately, It didn't last and it never would if I didn't make a move before it was to late.

Cody's P.O.V.........

I did it,I thought, I finally talked to her. I shoved my books in my locker and went to Science. The bell rang as Mr. Stokes talked about the inside of a cell. "Now the Nucleus is probably the most important part of-" he continued. Usually I would pay attention but today everything just kind of caught me off guard "Well Cody how about you explain that," said Mr. Stokes. I let the words sink in for a moment or two and then said "Umm, The.......," I cleared my throat and looked at Ty who lip sinked, Cytoplasm, "The....... Cytoplasm! Holds everything in it's place," I finished relieved.

"Oh hey, thanks Ty," I said at locker break. "Don't mention it," he said and walked to cafeteria. I followed him. "So football next Saturday," I asked. "We're 7th graders so we go on 7:30p.m.," he said. "Cool," I answered and looked behind me. Scarlet, Sam, and Ansley were walking, talking, and laughing just like usual. I faced back forward and went to the cooking section. I grabbed a Hamburger, Fries, Carrots, and a cookie, then I sat down with Ty, Brian,Jake, and Travis at our usual spot. "So about this bet?" asked Travis looking at Brian. I stared straight ahead at Jessica sitting down alone at a vacant table and opening her juice box. "Hey, I have to go get a milk," I said and left grabbing a milk and sitting down by her.

  "You don't have to sit by me because you feel sorry for me," She said. "I don't feel sorry! I just feel something...........Spe- Friendly! I feel something friendly towards you," I explained. Nice save, I thought. She smiled and said," I do to you to," and got up to throw the contents of her tray away and to come back. "Why are you sitting at a table alone?" asked Jake,"How long does it take to get a milk?" I grabbed my bag and followed them out without dumping my tray.
