Sixteen year old Fujoka Kuu sat quietly in the back of her father's limousine. It was a bright spring day outside, not a cloud in the sky. The weather was warm, but not too warm. Absolutely perfect. Kuu leaned against the door, staring out of the window at all the students walking by.
By their uniforms, they were all going to the same place as her. Kuu was wearing the yellow ball gown like dress, as the other girls were that she has seen, with the little red ribbon that tied around the collar. Her hair was down, as it always was, and she wore white knee high socks and brown dress shoes.
She looked like just about every girl who attended this school, plain, ordinary, yet extremely rich. Not only was Kuu rich, but she was also the most intelligent in her class. Ever since Hikaru had called her a, "Stupid, girl," she studied everything possible to become a smart girl. Now she is, yet she doesn't feel any better about herself.
"Miss Fujioka-San," her driver says from the front. She climbed over and unlatched the window that separated them, "Yes, Jugo-san?"
"Your father called just a moment ago, he wanted me to inform you that you'll be leaving school early today. So please be ready to leave by noon," He informs as he turns the limousine down the street that Ouran Academy sat.
"For what reason?" Kuu asks. It wasn't unusual for her father to pick her out of a random class during the day. Her dad tended to worry about her almost too much. Ever since Kuu was four.
The family had went out together to their beach house in America. Kuu was thrilled, if not ecstatic. When they had went to the beach though, Kuu had no idea how to swim but she ran into the water anyway. She had almost drowned, luckily one of the many life guards had saved her. Kuu's father was always worrying about her when she was away ever since then.
"Apparently there's a family reunion that your father and mother want to prepare you for,"
"Tonight?!" Kuu gaped. Her parents hadn't told her anything about it. Jugo nods his head and she sighs, kind of angrily. Her parents were horrible at communication, but this was ridiculous. Kuu sits back down in her seat with a huff.
How could they not tell me that I'm to be seeing my family tonight? She thought to herself as she crosses her arms under her chest. She wasn't unhappy that she'll be seeing family of course, it was just that it was so sudden.
The rest of the car ride was silent, and when Jugo parked the car he quickly exited and opened the door for her, even though Kuu could have gotten it herself, and she wanted too. It was his job. She exited the car, flattening her dress out and stepped to the side, letting Jugo close the door behind her. He nods his head at her, "I'll see you at noon, Miss Fujioka."
"See you," She replies, gripping the handle of her bag in front of her.
She walks quietly down the pavement that leads to the doors of the building. Ever since she was rejected, she had been more quiet than she was before, amounting to her never saying anything unless she had too.
Kuu walks into the building, ignoring any looks that came her way. Which, honestly wasn't many. She wasn't the most beautiful girl in the room, so why should they look?
Kuu walks up the large, grand staircase to the side of the building, dodging a boy who was running down the steps. He was short, and child-like. But cute nonetheless. He bounced happily down the halls, and Kuu looked away from him.
Kuu continued to walk through the halls until she came to the door labeled for Class 1A. She walked through the opened doors and took her seat in the back right of the room. It was a new year, so she hadn't a clue who she'd be in class with. She knew a couple of students because their families had worked together previously.
One in particular she was friends with was named, Sasayaku Asuna. Asuna's family owned a record label. So, naturally, Asuna was always telling Kuu about recent performers who have made their debut's recently. Asuna was always caught up with the latest music news. Kuu didn't mind receiving this information, she loved music, and Asuna was her best friend. So she didn't care what she had to talk about, just as long as they were talking in general.
Kuu sat quietly, with her arm sitting on the desk, her hands folded together. Her eyes stared straight ahead at the black board in the front of the room, and every now and then a student would walk by. She never looked at their face though.
Soon enough the class will have started, and the teacher would be talking. Kuu intently listened to everything the teacher had to say, even if it was to just tell someone on the other side of the room to be quiet.
Eventually, the teacher wanted everyone to stand up and say their name, and say what company they were with. She started on the row Kuu sat with. The first boy to introduce himself was with a technology company. Then there was one with jewelry, and one with shoes, there was one with art, and there was one girl who was with a company that trained people in Judo.
Kuu stood up as that girl sat down and smiled, "Hello, my name is Fujioka Kuu and I am with Fujioka Medicine." She then sat down as quickly as she stood and the teacher nodded. The Fujioka medicine company was either really famous to some people, or just an average company that could do better to others.
The class continued to introduce themselves until finally it got to a set of twins in the back that Kuu hadn't looked over to yet.
"Hi, we are Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin and we're with the Yuzuha Fashion company," they say in complete unison, not missing a single beat with each other.
Kuu's eyes widen as the name rings a bell in her mind. Her heart thumps painfully against her chest and she slowly, frightfully turns her head to the left. Kuu stares in disbelief as the sight of the twins from when she was younger met her eyes.
She didn't ever want to see them again, yet here they were.
Kuu didn't know how to handle it. She stood up abruptly, making everyone turn towards her and she scurried out of the room, not looking back. Kuu ran down the halls, looking for a quiet place, where no one else would be. She found another stair case as she ran and she hurried up them.
Why are they here? She thought to herself as she gripped the part of her dress that covered her beating heart. As soon as she was far from that room, she quickly entered another one without looking at the rooms title. Luckily, no one was in there. It was just a big, delightfully clean and decorated room, that she could sit in by herself.
Kuu shut the door behind her, then leaned against it, trying to catch her breath. Why were they here? Out of all the prestigious schools, they had to attend this one! I know it's been years but I'm not ready to see them again! Not after...
Her thoughts stopped erupting in her brain as suddenly Hikaru's thirteen year old face took over, and all she heard now were the words, "Stupid, girl," again and again.
Kuu could feel her lip quivering but she didn't care anymore, she was alone. She slid down the door and brought her knees to her chest, her hands covering her face, hiding her away from the world. Kuu wanted nothing more than to disappear.
Stupid girl, stupid girl, stupid girl... The voice chanted in her mind, but this time she couldn't tell if it was Hikaru's voice or her own. Tears began to spill out of her eyes, and she finally chokes out a breath of pain.
Her cries echo throughout the room, but she was alone.
