Evianna Sharora
Evianna woke with the rising sun from a nightmare consumed sleep. She could only remember slight moments of the dream and its flashes of horror. The cover of night, a forest, a mass of dark figures charging closer.
"Remember what I told you." A woman had hissed in Evianna's ear, stuffing something in her pocket. "I love you. Now run!"
Evianna had awoken in a feverish sweat, cold and shivering. She got out of the bed and headed for the shower, needing its warmth. She didn't stay in it as long as she had the night before, but still long enough for the water to grow cold.
She hadn't talked to Zeke either, which worried her. She had tried to stop by his room the night before but found it empty. As Zachariah had promised, a kind elderly woman had brought a variety of foods up to her room. From stew, to warm loaves of bread and sweet fruit. She had eaten every bit of it, and nearly drank the whole pitcher of water that also came with the food, before she found herself over what Calix had called the toilet, puking the food back up. Her stomach hadn't been accustomed to the sweetness and amount.
Stepping out of the shower, she dressed in the clothes she had been given, hating how tightly they clung to her body. She recognized the hairbrush, toothbrush, and toothpaste sitting on the sink. In The Stilan, there were a few caravans and other sellers who would sell such products in trade of animal hide, food, or anything of value. She used both products before braiding her dark hair back.
In her room, she found another tray of food set on the stand next to her bed, and a visitor sitting close by.
"Zeke?" Evianna said in both relief and surprise.
"Hey, Evi," He replied, taking a grape from her tray and popping it into his mouth. "Have you tried this food? It's amazing."
"I have," Evianna said, taking a seat next to him on her bed. "Last night. I made the mistake of eating too much."
Zeke quietly laughed in return. "Me too."
There was a short silence between them that Evianna could not stand.
"About yesterday-"
"Don't worry about it." Zeke cut in. "Whether it's true or not, I don't care." He finally turned to her, meeting her gaze. "You're my sister no matter what."
Evianna smiled, pulling him into a hug. "Of course I am." She whispered into his shoulder. They stayed that way for a few moments, and Evianna could almost pretend none of this was happening and that they were back in The Stilan.
Someone knocked on her door and they broke apart. She stood with an inward sigh and headed for the door, opening it to be greeted by Zachariah's smile, his dark hair a messy style that suited him.
"You're still here." He observed, raising an eyebrow.
"I am." She replied.
"Good, you've got training to do. And Zeke, you are invited too."
