Don't Underestimate Love

. Chapter One

*Hannah's p.o.v*

I have a huge family, and my family is really struggling. My dad got fired from his job. So we don't have hardly any money at all. I have 5 siblings and I am the oldest. I decided I would get a job to help feed my family. My parents are doing the best they can. All my littler brother and sisters are extremely skinny because we barely eat. I'm 16, my brother Noah is 14,my sister maddie is 12,my sister Chloe is 9,and then twins Courtney and Elly are 7. I got a job as a waitress at a restaurant called Connie's cafe. My shift finally ended and I have to go to the store to buy dinner. We are eating bread and a can of beans because today I got tips that were $2,and $3. When I got home Elly and Courtney were so happy to see a can of beans. Usually all we have is crackers and water. That shows you how poor we are. My mother heated up the beans. Once that were heated up we sat down and ate. " So guys I got a job at a coffee shop. It doesn't pay much but it will help us, but I am working from 5am/7pm. You guys will have to make your own supper now." she said. "Awesome!!!!" We all said. Once we finished eating we went to bed. I went and read the only book we owned to Courtney and Elly. It was called LOVE you always. After I finished reading I kissed the girls and then went to check on Chloe. She looked sick. "Do you feel ok?" I asked her. No. "Not at all." She replied. I felt her head and her head was extremely hot. "I am going to get mom. I'll be right back." I said. I went to the kitchen and got my mom and then we went back to Chloe's room. I had my mom feel her head and it was still extremely hot. She said we needed to take her to the hospital. We live in a very small town and there are about 50 people in total. We don't have a car so we had to borrow our neighbor's. Once we got to the hospital my mother went to go fill out the paperwork. After about an hour we finally had a room. The doctor asked Chloe what was hurting and she said she had a really bad headache. The doctor did some test and then after another hour Chloe had fallen asleep when the doctor came in. "It is always really hard to tell people this stuff...Chloe has brain cancer." The doctor said. We sat there shocked. Believing the words he said weren't true. "Brain cancer????!!!!" My mother stuttered. "Yes brain cancer." He replied. We sat there and cried endlessly. " How serious is it?" I asked.

"It's not to serious right now but it will get worse." The doctor said. I know for a fact that we do not have the money for brain cancer. I have some money saved up for collage, but I think we will have to use that for all the treatments Chloe will have to have. I will probably give all the money I have to my parents and then live out in the wilderness all by myself. I know how to hunt so I am pretty sure I could survive. "Chloe will have to stay here for a while. She can go home for the night if she wants. It would probably be a good idea just in case she doesn't get to go home again." The doctor said. "Ok. I will wake her up.. I'm not sure how I will tell her she has brain cancer I don't think I will be able to. "Hey Chloe you need to wake up." I said softly. " Where am I?" She asked. "Your in the hospital."I said. "Why?" She asked. I started crying. "Well actually the doctor got the results back and you have..." I couldn't do it. I couldn't tell her. I started bawling. "Well honey I hate to tell you this but you have brain cancer." The doctor said. It took her a long time to understand what the doctor had told her. "Are you sure I have it? Are you sure you didn't look at someone else's test results." She asked. " Yes I am positive I looked at the right test results.. Your the only Chloe Handyman there is." The doctor said. She started sobbing. "I am so so sorry Chloe. I am so so sorry." I said. I hugged her and she cried on my shoulder. But of course I cried too. I don't understand why girls like Chloe get cancer, they are so sweet they do not deserve to have cancer. It must be so hard to be that young and have someone tell you that you have cancer. Especially when you are young like her. When you don't understand why you have cancer when you don't deserve to have it. It must be so frustrating. "I'm going to let you go home for the night,but you will have to come back tomorrow. If your head starts hurting let your mom or sister know." The doctor said."0k I will." Chloe said. "Ok then I'll see you tomorrow." The doctor said. "0k bye." I said then we went home.

" Brain cancer!?!?!?!?!?!" My dad shouted.

" Yes..." My mother answered.

"Come on Chloe, let's go to your room." I said. We walked to her room. She laid in bed and I covered her up, then turned the lamp off. Right as I was about to walk out of the room Chloe said something.

" Hannah, why do I have brain cancer? What did I do to get it?" Chloe asked. How was I suppose to answer that?

"Well Chloe everyone wants happiness, no one wants pain, but you can't have a rainbow without a little rain." I answered.

" I guess you're right." She said back.

" Nighty Night. Love you." She answered as I shut the door.
