"I hate you"

8:02 am
"Seriously it's like he hates me or something. And I don't even know what I did," Penny said. She looked at the floor, pondering the situation at hand.

"Maybe it's not you, maybe he's mad at everyone," Nina fathomed the idea of someone disliking her best friend, let alone hating her in any way.

"I doubt it."

"Well why don't you talk to him then?" Nina asked. Penny shrugged her shoulders. "Penny listen, if you don't take action you can't expect a difference. Try to talk to him during lunch or something."

It was about a few hours until lunch, so Penny could wait.

12:03 pm
Penny looked around for him, afraid she'd never see him today.

Maybe he's absent, she thought. Or maybe he is avoiding you.

Dread raced through her blood, and she felt tears forming. But then she saw him, his red hair above everyone else in the crowd. He's tall, but not too tall. He's about 5'10, but she's 5'2. She shoved her way over to him, eager to know what's going on.

"Trevor!" Penny yelled. His head turned, and instantly she could see the look of disgust that smothered his face. "Look we need to talk," she said as soon as she caught up with him. He opened his mouth, ready to object, but she grabbed his arm and pulled him to the nearest empty hallway.

"What the hell, Penny?" Trevor said. Penny sat there for a second, completely pained.

"What did I do?" She asked. He stared at her for a while, his cheeks flushed red from guilt and anger.

"Stay the hell away from me."

"Why? What did I do that was so wrong-"

"Penny, just leave me alone!" He yelled. He shook his head, unable to speak as grief took over his whole body. His hands began to shake, so he shoved them in his jacket's pockets. "Look I just can't do this anymore. Seriously, Penny, it just needs to stop."

"But I didn't-"

"Penny. I hate you," Trevor said. He looked at the floor. Unable to say anything else he walked away. Penny began to tremble, and tears leaked down her face.

Walking away was the hardest thing for Trevor to do. It took all of him not to turn around and kiss her, because he didn't hate her. In fact he loved her. And that could be a reason he ended things with her, because you can't love your best friend, not when you're moving in a few days, too far to have a long distance relationship.

So the ties were cut, and he was sure there would be other girls in Lakewood. None like Penny Gustin, but who would be?

Trevor wiped a tear from his cheek before he sat at a table alone.

I don't hate you Penny Gustin, I lied..
