"Can I talk to you?"
It took a while for Eren to respond, just standing there with his back faced to Levi as he tapped his foot impatiently, waiting for answer to come out of the boys mouth.
"O-Oh yeah. Sure." Eren says spinning on his heel to face Levi. His arms were crossed, eyes focused on Eren. Levi let his stupid damn curiosity get the best of him and blurted out the question that has been on his mind ever since Eren stepped foot into the classroom today.
"Are you alright?" Levi asked staring at him, with a hint of curiosity and concern hidden in his eyes.
"I'm fine." Eren responded almost immediately after Levi asked his second question, Levi raised his eyebrow at Eren, wondering why he answered so quickly.
"No you're not."
"What, I-"
"There's something wrong." Levi cut Eren off "What is it?"
"Why do you care?" Eren asked, crossing his arms, matching Levi.
"It doesn't matter." Levi snapped at the boy "Now tell me whats wrong with you? You're usually annoying as fuck but you seem different today. Which isn't like you"
Eren rubbed the back of his neck "Its nothing.. Just a bit of family issues." Eren said sadly
Levi cocked his head to the side "Like what?"
Eren grunted. He was already getting tired of being pestered with all these questions that Levi was throwing at him. "Mom and dad were fighting at 3 in the morning today"
"Has it been happening frequently? Why are they fighting?"
"Yeah, its been going on for the past month or so.." Eren said looking down at his feet as if they were the most interesting thing in the world right now and not wanting to face Levi as he answered the question.
"You didn't answer my second question."
"Well its hard to keep track of them when you shoot me a million questions."
Levi rolled his head at the sarcastic comment "Why are they fighting?"
"Why does it matter to you? Your just going to go tell Mr.Smith and then everything will go down hill from there. I'm just gonna go before everything gets worse than it already is." Eren said turning back around but Levi acted fast and grabbed his arm.
"I'm not going to tell Erwin." Levi said clearly "Now tell me you shitty brat, why are they fighting?"
Eren shivered at the contact of Levi's hand and his arm. "I don't know." He answered "I don't know. I have a feeling it was me. But I never did anything." Eren said running his hand threw his messy hair after Levi finally let go of his arm.
Eren feared that his mother and dad would spilt up if this kept going. He didn't want that to happen. Both parents would fight for custody. He didn't want to stay a one parents house and then go over to the other parents. What about Mikasa? What if they spilt the two up? He couldn't bear not living with her. No matter how much he acted like he hated her, he loved his sister.
"Oi brat, why are you crying?" Levi said snapping Eren out of his thoughts. Eren didn't even notice he was crying until Levi pointed it out. He touched his face, feeling the wet substance on his face and hastily wiped them away.
"I-I'm not." He defended. But more tears came down. "I-I don't want my parents to get a divorce." he sobbed
Levi didn't know what do. He's not used to young brats crying in front of him. What was he supposed to say? He's never been in this situation before. Levi hesitantly placed his hands on Eren's shaking shoulders.
"Shhh."
Levi's soothing soft voice caused Eren to stop shaking and crying. He wiped away the remaining tears that were left on his face. "I-I'm sorry. I probably look like a cry baby." Eren said his attention at the floor.
Eren lifted his head to look at Levi, his bright eyes staring into the duller eyes. Their faces were centimeters apart, Eren's breathing hitched as did Levi's. But then Levi did something.
He kissed Eren.
