"Bay!" Drew yelled from downstairs. "Get your ass down here! We're going to be late!" He whined.
"I'll be down in a minute!" I yelled as I scrambled to get my things together.
I shoved everything into a hobo style bag and looked into the mirror one last time. I walked down the stairs as gracefully as I possibly could, while looking down at Drew at the bottom of the staircase. He was watching my every move. He got impatient, he ran up the rest of the way, grabbed my hand and pulled me down to the front door.
"Come on!" He whined.
"Okay, okay. I'm coming, God." He drug me outside into the pouring rain.
We got into his car and he started the engine. He looked at the clock on the dashboard with a look of disappointment on his face.
"Shit." He mumbled.
"What?" I asked.
"We're late..." He stuck out his bottom lip and sulked.
"Drew, it's a drop in..." I pointed out.
"Yes, but in the invitation it clearly states that the party starts at nine. It's five minutes past nine Bay." I giggled, while he glared at me.
If there was anything Drew hated, it was being late. Even if it was just by seconds.
"Don't laugh at me. At least I don't scream at the sight of a squirrel." He rubbed in my face.
My smile faded into a frown.
"That squirrel was rabid." I argued and crossed my arms.
"No, it ate half of your Mom's pie that was covered in whipped cream." He said and glanced into his rearview mirror.
"It was rabid, and it tried to eat me!" I protested.
"Oh come on! It chased you around the yard for like, a minute, max!" He narrowed his eyes at me.
"Yeah, well it was the longest damn minute of my life! Everyone was too busy laughing to help me." I pouted.
Drew took his eyes off of the road for a brief second and gave me a disbelieving look.
"I had nightmares for weeks." I pointed out.
"Yeah, and I snuck out of my room at night and kept you company for weeks." He said quietly.
A smile tugged at the corners of my mouth. I remembered when were little. He had a massive crush on me... Until he moved to New York for the Summer. He came back at the beginning of the school year a different person... A different Drew. He found a girlfriend, and never looked at me the same way again. I asked him about it but he said nothing happened and brushed it off. I tried to let go of it, but I couldn't. I still loved him, but he didn't love me anymore. Well, he did love me but not in the way that I loved him. I tried to find someone else, I really did, but they weren't Drew. And that's all I wanted, and all I still want. I had known Drew for my entire life, he knew everything about me, and accepted me as is.
I snapped out of my trance, when the car came to a complete stop in front of Emily Bronson's house. Her parent's left her home alone for the weekend. Big. Mistake. She knew how to throw a party, but wasn't so great at not getting caught. I got out of the car and followed Drew inside. The music was loud and was making the whole house vibrate. Suddenly, the music stopped. The crowd of teenagers groaned in protest.
"We need beer money!" Emily yelled. "Everybody give us ten bucks, or get your shit out of my house!"
I grabbed ten bucks out of my front pocket and handed it to her. I walked over to the wall and read the party rules,
