I woke up to beeping. My cousins were all there, Jamie is 19, Cass is 24, and Lea is 17 and lives with Cass. The only one that I noticed missing was my closest cousin, Liam. I am closest to him because he adopted me when my parents died, he's like the brother I've always wanted.

I was only able to slightly glance at everyone before Lea noticed me. She abruptly stopped tapping her coffee cup, and in just one huge lunge-step she had me engulfed in a huge hug.

"Umm... Lea .....cant....breathe" I managed to get out before she loosened her hold on me and looked me over.

When she stopped looking at me she had the biggest I-was-so-worried smile on and said in relief, "O my Lanta Bree! You scared the socks off my feet!"

"I'm fine Lea." I said in the calmest voice I could manage. "Whats going on anyway? Why am I in the hospital and why do I hurt so much?" I looked at everyone and they all looked really guilty. "Hey where's Liam? I mean he is my legal guardian, shouldn't he be here too?" I looked at everyone's face individually and they all tried to avoid my gaze.

"Well hell! If no one's going to answer my questions I'm going to go ask someone who will!" I swiftly threw the blankets off my legs and got off the bed. I ripped the cords and wires off of me and took the needles out of my arms. I was surprised at all the strength I had with how much I hurt.

I walked over to a little table that had some of my clothes on it and went to the bathroom. Cass and Jamie were oddly quite this whole time. I think that they are still surprised that I am awake or something.

"B-Bree Lynn! You need to sit back down!" Cass finally spit out.

I looked at Cass like she just grew 3 heads. Then I studied her. Her eyes were droopy and blood shot, honestly it looked like she hadn't slept in days. That added to the fact that she had really dark circles under her eyes.

"Hey Cass-" I said in the sincerest voice I could muster while walking over to her "-what's really going on here." The last part I tried to make more stern.

She kept opening and closing her mouth, really she looked like a fish. I think she was trying to decide what she could and could not tell me. This stuff was really starting to irk me off. Why is everyone being so closed-off towards me: Really it's unfair.

Just as I was studying over facts in my brain and trying to piece some of it together, a nurse, a doctor and my grandma walked into the room. My grandma had some panicked look on her face when she looked at the empty bed, then she looked to Cass and saw me.

She just stared at me with the same panicked look though she quickly sobered up when she fully registered I was there and not to mention fine.

"Is there something on my face or-" I said touching all over my face with a smile.

"B-Bree! Your up!"My grandma squealed like a spoiled kid and started running up to me like a kid in a candy store.

"Wait. Grandma before we have our little reunion, can you tell me what's going on?"I looked at her expectantly, but she stopped beaming and started frowning. Eventually she was stone-faced and guilty looking like Cass and Jamie. I moved my gaze from Grandma to Lea, to Cass, then to Jamie and eventually to the nurse and doctor.

Then the nurse interrupted my mental scolding to everyone "Bree Lynn honey. I need you to sit down so I can look you over." she said in a very calming voice with a hint of...what? Sympathy? Sympathy for what?

I was caught up in my thoughts when I saw the nurse moving towards me and saying something that I didn't make out.

"I-I'm sorry. What did you say?" I asked, shaking my head trying to clear my thoughts.

"Bree honey, I asked if you were okay" she had this Oakie twang to her voice and it was honestly pretty awesome.

"Oh. Well yeah. I'm fine, just caught up in my thoughts I guess." I replied walking slowly and mindlessly back to the bed.

The doctor asked everyone if they would step out for a few seconds, but with knowing how stubborn my family is I knew that was no use. Everyone stayed in the room and watched me like a hawk while the nurse and doctor checked me over and left.

Immediately when the doctor and nurse left I looked up at my family expectantly. What happened was not expected at all. They all group hugged me. "Well-this-is-a-first" I managed to say though it was muffled and hard to say in this bone-crushing group hug.

Once everyone finally let go, Jamie looked down at the ground and fiddled with her fingers nervously. "BreeI'mreadytotellyouwhathappened" Jamie said rushed and all in one breath.

"Jame's, your gonna need to repeat that a little slower so I can understand you" I said.

"Okay. Bree I'm ready to tell you what happened" she said slower and looked at everyone else. After they stood looking at each other for what felt like hours-it was only like 2 minuets- everyone (but Jamie) left the room.

"Okay Bree, this is going to be a lot to take in but you need to know it all. Firstly, you've been in an anxiety induced coma for almost 6 weeks-" I cut her off before she could continue on.

"AN ANXIETY INDUCED COMA!!!!" I yelled maybe a little to loud because Jamie winced. Before I continued, I lowered my voice so I was talking normally again. "I haven't had any problems with my anxiety since those first few months after Mom and Dad died" I slowly started looking down once I calmed down and I ended up looking at my lap.

"Well that's what we thought too, but when we all got here Cass talked to the Doc and he said that you were in a coma before the ambulance even got here. Thankfully you were breathing regularly so they could get you here safely."

"I still don't understand why I am in a hospital. I don't understand why my head hurts. I don't understand where Liam is. I need to know Jame's" I said a little exasperated.

" I know. I know. I'm getting there." She said waving her hands. "So I'll start where your last memory ends. What is the last thing you remember?" This time she put her elbows and the table hanging over the bed and rested her chin in her hands.

^-^ A/N

Yes this is kind of a weird way to start a story, but it grows into the plot. I'm one of those people that can't write anything without writing some-sort of backstory. Sooo thank you for reading, and just hang in there it'll get better.

Well. I guess I'll ask some questions.

What do you think happened to Liam?

Where's Lukas, Bree Lynn's biological brother?

Why is Bree Lynn in the hospital?

All of this will be answered in the next chapter.

Thanks for reading! Please comment if you spot any mistakes or you want to praise!
