Caramel Dream
I'm Caramel, the rebel of Greenwood High School. I am in the front office again, because of my 'attitude and bad behavior' Miss Crool had said. It wasn't my fault, Angella Brood was making fun of my mum and the way I dressed so I slapped her and I got the blame. I have been waiting here for ten minutes and Mr Swan was still busy. Suddenly the door opened and Mr Swan appeared wearing his usual grey suit with black shoes, he looked very cross with me, but I really didn't care.
'In you come Caramel,' he said with a sigh. I entered and sat on the wooden chair in front of his desk, his office looked tidy for a change. He took a seat on the big leather chair behind his desk, tapping his fingers it. He picked up the phone and dialed a number I recognized the number he had pressed, he was calling my dad.
'Hello Mr Wood,' he said to my dad.
'I was calling to see if you could please come down to the school at half past one to discuss Caramel's behavior,' he continued. I heard my dad say something back but I couldn't make out what he was saying, but I could tell he was cross.
'Thanks, ok. Bye bye,' he finished. He put the phone down and sat back on his chair.
'As you probably heard, your father is coming down here at half past one,' he said to me, stating the obvious. I rolled my eyes.
'Yes,' I replied sulkily.
'Now, I know that you and Angella don't get along, but there was absolutely no need to hit her like that!' Mr Swan shouted.
'You don't understand,' I said, biting my tongue to hold back the tears.
'Why did you do it?' he asked with a more gentle voice.
'She was talking about my family members and the way that I dress.' I said, I couldn't help it and the tears came streaming down my face.
'I never meant to make you upset. I'm sorry.' He said.
'It's ok. It wasn't your fault.' I replied wiping away my tears. Mr Swan handed me a tissue.
'Thanks.' I said.
'It's ok. Now, can you please tell me exactly what happened?' He asked.
'Yeah,' I shrugged.
'Well, the bell went for interval and I was talking to Jodie White, when Angella walked over and started talking to Jodie. I just stood there, when Angella said 'Why do you hang about with her? Look at the way she is dressed, her mum doesn't even love her!' Which made me really angry so I slapped her.' I told him.
'Ok, you still shouldn't have hit her,' he said with a sigh.
'Why does no one understand!!' I screamed.
'Caramel, calm down now!' Mr Swan said looking bewildered. There was a knock on the door and Angella entered with Miss Crool.
'Mrs Healy said that you asked for Angella to come down at one o'clock,' Miss Crool said.
'Thank you.' Mr Swan said with a smile, and Miss Crool left closing the door behind her. Angella glared at me, her cheek still red from the slap. I couldn't help feeling guilty but all at the same time she did deserve it.
'Now girls,' Mr Swan began, this usually means that he is going to give us a big lecture on how we need to get along.
'I've heard that you two haven't been getting along very well recently. And I am very shocked about what I have been hearing.' he continued looking at the two of us.
'Angella, can you please tell me what happened today at interval?' He asked.
'Yeah ok.' She replied.
'And Caramel?' He started. I looked up at him.
'No interruptions please.' He smiled. I rolled my eyes and slouched lower into the chair.
'The bell had just gone for interval, and I had just came out of my class, when I saw Jodie, so I went over to go and talk to her when Caramel came over and told me to go away because Jodie was her friend and slapped me.' Angella replied with a smug look on her face.
'That’s not true!' I shouted.
'Caramel.' Mr Swan said raising his voice.
'I have heard two different stories and I want to know which is the truth.' He continued.
'I told the truth,' Angella said with a little girl voice.
'No you never Angella!' I said, getting up off of my seat.
'Girls! Caramel sit down!' He said, I did as I was asked and sat back down.
'Caramel, if you wouldn't mind going back to your class and I will call you back down when your dad arrives.' He said, I got up and walked out of his office. I went back up to my class and everyone was staring at me, I went to my seat and looked at the clock, there wasn't much point in me going back to class as it was quarter past one, but I would imagine my dad o be late. He usually is. I noticed that Miss Crool was also looking at me. I wanted to slap her face too. Someone passed me down a not from the back, it said: 'That was an amazing hit! I like your style, call me x' there was a phone number on the back, I wonder who it was from? I looked around the class suspiciously. Everyone was looking at the front listening to Miss Crool go on about the Romans.
'Who sent the note?' I whispered to Jodie.
'Shhh,' she whispered and turned back to the front. The classroom door opened and Angella entered, I took a quick look at the clock at it was half past. I raised my hand.
'Yes Caramel?' She asked.
'I need to go to the office.' I replied.
'Ok.' She sighed 'Off you go' she continued. I stuffed the note into my bag and took it down to the office. When I arrived at the office, I saw my dad sitting on one of the chairs. He didn’t look his normal happy self, he looked worried and angry.
