I continued the same beat while trying my hardest to stay focused on what Mr. Collier was teaching. I sat in the very back, earning mean mugs from students who weren't too fond of my pencil tapping, but if you asked me I'd tell you I didn't care. Pushing my braids to the back of my head, I stood up ready to leave the dark gloomy classroom. And as if on que, the bell rang.
"Miss. Reynolds I'd like to speak to you, if you don't mind." Mr.Collier said catching me one foot out the door. I rolled my eyes and sighed, slowly making my way back to his desk. Crossing my arms over my chest, and shifting my weight to my right leg, I stared at everything, but him.
"Miss. Reynolds I've noticed your attention span in my class has decreased tremendously."
"Ok?" I mumbled quietly.
"What was that?" He stood from his desk approaching me.
"Where are you going with this Shawn?" I rolled my eyes. I was already late for work and I truly didn't have time for him to be talking to me about the obvious.
"I'm going to have to speak to your father Nen-"
"My name is Journey to you sir."
Shawn, aka Mr. Collier, was a family friend, who just so happened to be my teacher. Aka my father's spy, aka my father's bitch, but you didn't hear that from me. He, my father, Link, and my Mother, were all friends back in high school. Him and mother may have also been a little more than friends, being they dated then too.
My father had a crush on my mother, but he kept it hidden and played match maker with her and Shawn. When the relationship ended, my father decided then was the perfect time to make his feelings known again.
He "stole" my mother, and well you know, "first comes a baby and a rocking carriage, then there comes marriage" or something like that..right??
"Right. I'm going to have to speak to your father Journey, this isn't ok. If you fail my class your going to have to retake it for next year, or go to summer school again and you won't graduate with your class. I'm only looking out for you, you know you're like a daughter to me." He spoke lying through his teeth.
"Right. Can I leave now?" I asked slightly annoyed.
"Yeah, gon' right ahead." He nodded towards the door.
With that I wasted no time scurrying out his room. I needed to get to work. Not that I really needed the money, but I wanted my own. My mom is a co-owner of a small wing shop off Pine Hills called Flyers. My dad..had his hands dirty. He was an "I got whatever you need" kind of guy, selling any and everything but open legs. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing Link this, Link that, "Oh yo pops Link?"
