Sorry if that last section of the book ended so quick, I just wanted to get back into the action faster. So here it goes! Enjoyyy!
-----
I started to wake up, feeling like I'd been hit by a train. My head hurt and the rest of my body felt dead as a doorknob. When I tried to remember what happened, nothing was clear. Hoping to open my eyes and remember, I was confused to see the inside roof of the Impala. I don't remember getting into the Impala. The last thing I remembered was...
Oh.
Dean and Sam had gone to burn the bones of the poltergeist and left me at the motel. I was bored out of my mind. I went to try and get something to eat and ended up passing out. That must be why my head hurt so much. I reached up to my forehead, putting light pressure on it with a painful groan. I bet I'm gonna have a bruise the next time I look in the mirror.
"Ava?" I hear from the front seat. I slowly sit up to see Dean and Sam trying to sleep. "Oh thank god, you're awake." Dean sighs in relief.
"What happened?" I ask. "I think I remember passing out, but that's the last thing I've got." My father and uncle glance at each other nervously. "What?"
Not answering my question, Sam asks me, "Do you know if anyone has been following you around or anything...unusual?"
"Unusual?" I say, stretching it to emphasize my confusion. "Of course there's a lot of unusual things. My family hunts the supernatural, what's more unusual than that?"
"It's important, Ava. Is there something you can tell us to help us help you?" Dean says sternly.
"If you're trying to help, you're not. You're scaring me if anything. What's going on?" My head feels like it's about to pop and I put a soft pressure on it, thinking it would help. It doesn't. "God, my head is killing me!" When Dean and Sam sit straight, more alert, I realise that might've been the wrong word choice. "Is someone trying to kill me?" I know, stupid question after almost getting drugged with brownies.
Dean looks at me, seriously. "Ava, I'm going to be blunt. There's a lot of things out there that want you. What they'll do isn't obvious, but whatever it is won't be good. Now, do you know of anyone or anything suspicious that might be looking for you right now?" Could this have anything to do with Mrs. Hopper?
"Well, there was this old lady?" I start, unsure of how they'll react, Dean more specifically. "She tried to drug Harper and I." I continue cautiously and Dean looks like he is about to pop.
"When did this happen?!" He all but shouts. I look between him and Sam knowing neither of them will be happy with my answer.
"When I was supposed to be at the library with Harper."
"What?!" The both of them are past upset or angry and on their way to furious.
"Well, Harper talked me into–"
"Why the hell did you think leaving the library might be safe?!"
"Harper–"
"Harper's not gonna be able to protect you if Crowley or Dick come after you! Do you not realise that?! You're barely safe with us, Avalin! What were you thinking?!"
"I just–"
"You were supposed to stay at the library! Instead you go who knows where and get drugged?!"
"But–"
"No 'buts' right now. You are in so much trouble right now. Please tell me you understand how much you risked your life doing that!" I nod, not even trying again to get words in between Dean's rant, which I rightfully deserved.
