My music was blaring through my earbuds but I couldn't hear the words. I was to busy thinking about my future. I was gonna be placed in a correctional facility. Better than going to jail for something I didn't do. I sighed as my dad stopped the car and my mom glanced back at me in the mirror "I hope you have a good summer. Be a good girl!" She smiles as I get out of the car. My dad pops the trunk and I grab my black duffle bag. I walk away as he tries to come around to hug me. I hide my phone and my Swiss knife in my baggy hoodie pocket. I walk in almost ten minutes after I should have. And I try to focus on the what I assume is the tour guide
"Everybody got the system? Meds and beds"
I try to be a smartass as I speak up from the back of the small group "I'm sorry but could you repeat that?"
"Ah. Look what the wind dragged in. I'll repeat it for the special new people. If your one of the students who needs meds to you know...keep you sane and happy then you report to the nurses office at night for your meds then you go to bed right after. Got it?!"
I chuckled and smirked. As I answered her "Yes ma'am"
"Good. Now everybody put your hazards in the box and the people who got here on time are free to go explore."
I watched as a blonde girl with bright pink nails dropped a pink knife into the box and stepped back with a sigh. She had a southern voice that dropped with fake sugar as she introduced herself as Gabby.
The next was a boy with brown eyes and a soft face that made him look like he was an innocent baby other than the fact that he tossed in multiple packs of matches and lighter fuel. He glanced at me and said one word that I assumed was his name. "Toby".
The last was a tall and handsome guy with black hair hanging slightly in his face. He had deep green eyes that captivated me and I stared at him. Studied him. Looked at the shadows on his face. Stared at the small bags under his eyes.
Suddenly the guide cleared her throat to break our glance "Hey lovebirds. Break it up and put your stuff in the box"
He smiled a fake smile and dropped in a small knife and a couple cans of spray paint. He took a step back and everybody tossed their phones in the box. I was looking in the box at all the stuff when I realized everybody was looking at me.
The tour guide looked at me and questioned "So? Got any hazards to put in the box?"
"I actually don't. My parents took everything like that from me before they dropped me off here"
The boy who had the green eyes rolled his eyes and spoke to the guide saying "I know your show starts soon. I could show her around for you." The guide chuckled and shook her head "Nope. Your new here again. Step one. Back to the beginning with the newbies. Don't like it, don't break parole."
I stiffened slightly as she said parole and tried not to think about what somebody like him could have done to end up here.
The guide lead me away to show me around as she talked. "Names Randy. I'm the person you can talk to when you have a question or something. You room is..." she glanced at a paper than kept going "Room sixty-three. For now you can put your bag in my office with the others and you can unpack later between dinner and bedtime. bathrooms are there. Lunchroom is there. Door to the back is there. We've got thirty-five minutes until morning classes start but my show starts in five. Head to the back with the others and be careful of the cameras."
I nodded and headed to the back quad with the other student. I pulled my black hair back into a ponytail and looked around. I headed out to the bleachers when a girl with long Browns hair and brown eyes around my height stopped me
"Hey. I gotta take a tax from all the new people coming in to my territory. Okay?"
I shook my head and kept walking as she followed behind me. "Your the one person who hasn't just handed me money and asked me not to hurt them. Why? Are you not scared of me?"
"Nope."
"Why? Am I to cute?"
"Hah. Not even close to cute but I've seen scarier things in my mind." I sighed and sat halfway up the bleachers as she sat beside me
"I like you. I think we're gonna be great friends. I'm Adrianna but people just call me Adri. So what's your name?"
I shield my eyes from the sun and glance at her "Names Luce." I looked around at the group's already forming and noticed a few people people breaking dress code. One girl had taken off her hoodie and was standing in a small tank top. A couple had bedazzled a skull and crossbones on the back of their hoodies. I knew they were a couple because every couple of seconds they would pull in and kiss each other.
But my favorite rule breaker was the bright red scarf wrapped around somebody's neck that flittered in the wind. They turned around and it was the boy with the green eyes.
"Who is that?..." I muttered not realizing I was talking outloud
"The one in the red is Daniel. He's New but he's not new. He's been here before. He's one of the few people who got out. Too bad he messed up and got put back in here"
He started to walk towards us until his friend jumped on his back to get his distraction.
That was the first chapter of fallen. If there's anything I can do to improve it let me know in the comments. I've actually been working on this for a while but then I stopped. But I'm back now! Hope you enjoy
