Castiel sat on the hood of the rusted old impala, staring off into the distance. His blue eyes empty and cold, much like they had been when he had first came to earth. But in a different way. A much sadder way.

He heard the rumble of an old engine. Surprising, he thought. No one uses cars anymore. He looked in the direction of the rumbling and was surprised to see a pretty young girl step out of a rusted old tow truck. She was young, maybe 23 years old at most. She had long brown hair that almost reached her tailbone and bright, emerald green eyes. He went invisible before she could see him, curious about why she was in a field like this. She walked straight over to the old car Castiel was sitting on. Shocking. She crouched down in front of the old car and smiled, patting the hood. "You didn't think I'd forget about you, did ya baby?" The way she talked, so similar to the way Dean had, made Castiel's heart twinge.

The girl walked back over to the tow truck and got back in. She backed up until she was able to hook the impala up to it and started the process. Castiel thought for a moment before popping a good distance away and becoming visible again. "Excuse me?" He said.

The girl jumped and looked at Castiel surprised and a bit nervous. "Oh god, is this your car? I'm so sorry sir."

"Don't be. Its uhhhhh... Its fine" He tried to force a tiny smile but it came out as more of a grimace.

The girl studied him and saw the deep depression weighing down the angel's body. She looked at him slightly concerned. "Are you ok? You seem really down."

"Oh... Do I? My apologies."

"Its ok. Whats wrong?"

Castiel looked at the ground. "You wouldn't understand."

She looked at him sadly. "I'm sorry." She thought for a moment, then smiled at Castiel. "Well, you know what always helps me when I'm sad? A wrench, an old car and some pizza." She patted the hood of the rusted old car that had practically become the angel's home. "Wanna help me out?"

Castiel looked at her a bit surprised. "I probably wouldn't be much help. I don't know much about cars."

"Well, I'll teach you then." She smiled at him.

The corners of Castiel's mouth twitched a tiny bit, almost managing to form a smile. "Ok. I would like that"

She smiled and held out her hand. "I'm Melissa."

Cas took Melissa's hand and shook it. "I'm Cast... Cas."

Melissa smiled and opened the passenger side door for Cas to get in. He nodded at her in thanks and got into the old truck. She finished hooking the impala up to the tow cable and got into the driver side. She started the car and drove off back to her home.

Fixing the car took the pair several weeks. And Cas actually liked the process more then he'd thought he would. Melissa was a kind teacher, something Cas sadly had to admit Dean wasn't. She made sure he understood how the car would work after it was fixed, what all the parts did, how to repair them if they broke again, and how to keep them working properly. He appreciated this very much.

One thing that confused Cas however was what was slowly happening to him as he worked with Melissa. He seemed to be getting back emotions. This surprised him. He hadn't had them since Dean and Sam had passed on, and it was strange having them back again. However the emotions he was getting were ones he had never had before. His chest would flutter every time she smiled at him, he subconsciously seemed to be finding excuses to touch her. "You had a bit of grease on your hand" "There was pizza sauce on your chin" "You had a bit of hair in your face". But what confused him even more was her reaction to his touches. She would always blush and a strange smile would creep its way onto her face. It was incredibly pretty, although Cas was sure he would never tell her this.

On the final work day the pair got up early and quickly finished the last bit of the car. Melissa looked nervous as she shut the hood of the car. "Alright, lets see if it works shall we?" Cas nodded and opened the driver side door for her. She climbed in and he got into the passenger side, looking at the practically brand new impala that looked just as good as when Dean had owned it.

Melissa slipped the key into place and turned it. Baby sputtered then rumbled to life, purring like she had never been rusted in the first place. Melissa whooped happily and for the first time in a long time, Cas smiled. Melissa smiled at him and pulled out of the garage. She drove down a lonely forest road and pulled into a small clearing surrounded by trees. Her and Cas got out of the car, both still smiling.

"We fixed it!" She yelped excitedly, flinging herself into Cas' arms, hugging him tightly.

Cas was shocked at the sudden hug, but didn't hesitate to hug back, a smile still brightening his face. "Yes, we did." He replied.

Melissa looked at Cas, her eyes bright with happiness. Cas smiled at her, a look that in her opinion definitely suited him. Wrapped in his arms she almost forgot about the car that the two of them had bonded over. As they leaned in and their lips met, a pair of brothers watching them from above both smiled.

"Our little Cas is all grown up Sammy." Dean said, his smile the biggest and brightest of the two.

"Yeah Dean, he is."
