Himoko's POV

Haru led the others out of the shop, leaving me behind to stare at Haru's Mother. Silent for a moment before I took a deep breath

"You recognize me, don't you miss?" I asked her and she nodded with a hint of a smile

"Hard not to know the face of a princess, especially of a kingdom that stills stands against Fire Lord Ozai. Why are you here?" She asked me

"I'm traveling with them, with the war drawing closer to an end, my grandfather, King Bumi of Omashu, sent me to travel with those three to keep me safe. In the near future, it is told that Omashu won't be hold long against the Fire Nation's demands."

"So I see..." She muttered to herself, downcasting her gaze to the ground

"I'm sorry to hear of what became of your husband."

"It's alright. It's done and over with, I just wish that one day Haru will be able to see his father again with no troubles."

"I see. You do realize that keeping Haru from earth bending in secret will only cause harm to him?"

"If it means keeping him safe, then it will have to be." I nodded in slight understanding. I could see where she was coming from, especially with having to hide my own abilities from the world in fear of what would happen in someone on the bad side of the war had found out about me being an airbender

"I understand. Just, let him do it once in awhile when for sure no one will be able to hear or see him. Please excuse me." I bowed to her slightly before leaving the shop, closing the door behind me. I repositioned Alea in my arms before following after the silhouettes of the others in the distance, the sunset cascading the village and mountains beautifully. Alea let a small noise, burying her face into my chest to take a small nap. I entered the barn, already seeing Aang and Sokka unpacking Appa's saddle for the night. I looked around, wondering where Katara was

"Where's Katara?" I asked the two, which Sokka answered, "Off with her boyfriend."

"Haru isn't her boyfriend you know, they just met." I stated nonchalantly, setting Alea down on a random sleeping bag, watching as she curled up to get comfortable, using her big floppy ears as a blanket

"Need any help?" I offered, resting my hands on my hips

"No, we got it!" Aang answered me quickly with a bright grin

"You sure? I can go and get firewood-"

"Nope, got it!" Sokka quickly debunked the offer, running out of the barn to gather firewood. I raised an eyebrow in suspicion, that's odd

"Umm... I can clean the barn-?!"

"Got it!" Aang proceeded to clean out the area of us, pushing hay bales further to the back of the barn for room for Appa . Okay, what the actual heck? Why aren't they letting me help? I pursed my lips, looking around the barn for something to do. I can finish unpacking the saddle. I walked over to Appa, climbing up to grab a bag when suddenly Aang out of nowhere air bended himself up into the saddle and grabbed the bag before landing back down onto the ground

"Aang, let me help!" I yelled at him, getting slightly frustrated, "What are you talking about?" He asked me with an innocent expression. I huffed, blowing my bangs out of my face

"You know what! You aren't letting me help along with Sokka!" I stated, going to grab another bag when he once again appeared and grabbed it before I could

"Aang!"

"What?" I let out a small growl, narrowing my eyes at the air bender child

"Let me help!"

"I am!"

"You're not-!" I let out a frustrated yell, blowing air out of my nose. I jumped down from the saddle, storming out of the barn with Aang yelling after me. I walked past Sokka who was holding an arms full of sticks

"Hey, wanna help make dinne-" I grabbed the bundle of sticks out of his arms before angrily thrusting them down the hill, storming away from him

"What did I do?!" I heard Sokka yell in astonishment, groaning as he watched after me but made no move to run after me. I walked through the woods, grabbing hold of a stick, whacking it against stones as I walked past them

"What the heck? Why did they not let me help then deny that they were?!" I asked myself loudly, feeling my anger bubbling up inside of me. Is this punishment or something? No, it can't be. I haven't done anything wrong... I don't think I have? I furrowed my brows, trying to rack my brain for something that would have caused them to act this way. Was it when we stopped for a toilet break when I accidentally pushed Sokka into a river? Or when Alea got into seeds that Katara was going to incorporate into lunch? How about- No, I haven't done anything wrong. Maybe I just overreacted and made the situation worse? I can tend to do that but I just wanted to help... I grumbled incoherently under my breath, whacking the stick against a tree trunk making it break off and fling back at me. I let out a small yelp when it whacked me in the face, leaving a small scratch on my cheek. I sighed, rubbing it before pulling my hand down to stare down at the blood rubbed into my hand

"Great job, Himoko..." I sarcastically praised myself when I heard a leaf crunch behind me. I turned swiftly around, using the other half of the stick to swing at whoever was sneaking up behind me. My eyes widened when my eyes landed on Haru who quickly grabbed hold of the stick flying his way

"S-Sorry!" I apologized which he chuckled at, letting go of the stick. I dropped the stick to the ground, "You scared me, wasn't expecting anyone to be out here- Wait, wasn't Katara with you?" I asked him which he nodded

"Yeah, but she decided to head back to the barn. I came out here to clear my mind, I guess you were doing the same?" He asked me, raising his eyebrow slightly

"Yeah... I can leave if you want me to-"

"No. I don't mind the company." He told me with a small reassuring smile

"So, what do you have on your mind?" I asked him after a small awkward moment of silence passed between us

"Well... When me and Katara went on our walk we came across the mine where there was a old man stuck underneath all the rubble. The mine was threatening to collapse ontop of him. Me and Katara rushed over to help only we couldn't get him out of beneath the rubble because there was too much weight on top of him..."

"Did you earth bend?" I asked him which he nodded, casting his gaze down to the ground

"Should I have? What if he tells a guard that I earth bended to get him out of there? What will my mom do if she finds out?!" He asked me. I sighed, running a hand through my black locks before resting it onto his shoulder

"Don't think about that, because even if he did tell a guard, it would be very wrong of him to do after all you were the one to save his life, you are the one that let him keep walking this earth. Remember that, if he tells, then that's his problem and I will not stand by and let him do that without repercussions for his actions. Understand?" He nodded, looking back up at me

"Thanks... Eh, I never got your name?" He asked me and I smiled, letting my hand fall off of his shoulder, "Himoko. Just call me Himoko.".
