Chapter 11:

When we all woke in the morning, we got right up and started walking north again. The more I pondered on it, the more I knew that I was going to die. The chances of me surviving this were very slim and we might not even find the enemy stronghold. It might not even exist! Ugh. I am not afraid to die, my life has been extremely difficult and I should be happy to be alive.

When I was six years old, my mother died in a train derailment. I only had my father and eight years later, he disappeared and I haven't heard from him since. That was a year ago and I have begun to lose hope. I was fine on my own and I can fend for myself, but it gets lonely. My father was a great scientist. He excavated ruins and ancient temples. He was the one who told me about a prophecy that would come true and beast like dogs would ravage the world.

"What is that?" said Nick. Over a dune, I saw a small cube like structure and it was half buried in the sand. We all prepped our guns and crept slowly toward it. "It looks like some kind of ruin." said Nick. I knelt down and examined the patterns on the side of the cube.

"James, GET AWAY FROM THERE!" said Molly and the sand fell into a pit with me following it. I landed on my back but the sand cushioned my fall.

"Are you alright?" yelled Nick down the hole.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm going to look around a little bit, okay?" I replied.

"Okay. Just be careful!" he said back. I stood up and saw that there were a few corridors leading off from the room I was in. They were all dark. I walked into the one closest to me and walked for about 20 minutes and then saw a red flash and a gunshot. A girl ran out and shot again down the hall.

"RUN, they are coming down the hall!" she yelled at me. I followed her orders and ran. I took a glance behind me and saw the familiar look of the doglike creature with red eyes. I kept running fast like the night I got the bite. We emerged out of the hallway and fell on the floor. She shot her gun again and the entrance collapsed. The dogs were trapped.

"Are you okay?" I said to her. She dusted herself off and stood up.

"Yeah I'm okay," she said with a deep breath. "I'm Erica by the way. Who are you?"

"My name is James and... well it's a long story and I'll tell you when we get up to the surface and you meet the rest of my crew," I said. We climbed up and I introduced everyone and I explained to her about the bite and everything that has happened. Nick kept giving her cute smiles and looks and she blushed. Molly was doing the opposite. She was giving her dirty looks and seemed very defensive.

"Let's get moving, we only have a few days left," said Molly and we all started walking. She was walking next to me again. I was glad though. Without thinking, my hand flew to hers and grasped it. She was taken aback but she held it tighter and smiled at me. Yup, I was in love.

Chapter 12:

We settled down at a small cave that was big enough for the five of us. When I was falling asleep, I realized I really loved Molly. I drifted off soon after that.

In my dream, I heard screams. Horrible, horrible screams. I turned around and saw a horrible sight. Molly was pinned down by a mutt. It was ripping at her arm and I ran forward and I couldn't get to her. I ran with all of my strength, but I couldn't get through the invisible barrier. Then the screams stopped and I woke up. I was sweating and my shirt was stuck to my body. I looked over to my right and she was sleeping soundly. Good, she's safe. I rested my head down and went back to sleep.

Chapter 13:

I woke up and looked to my side again and she was there.

"About time you woke up!" Molly said with a giggle. "We have to get going," I nodded and smiled and packed my things. We walked out of the cave and for hours. The dogs attacked 4 times that day and luckily, nobody else was wounded. But, my bite had been bothering my more than ever today. I think it meant we were getting close.

The day went by fast. I didn't like it, it meant I would have to have horrible dreams again. I hate them, it is horrible to see the only person that you love be tortured and you standing by and not being able to help. I can't describe how bad I feel about it.

Chapter 14:

Surprisingly, we weren't attacked anymore that day. When the sun started to set I knew it was the end of the second to last day of my life. We wouldn't find the castle I knew we wouldn't. We walked a few more miles and then I saw it. Over the hill, I saw a large, dark castle with green lights everywhere. There was one tower that caught my attention though. A large spire with a huge green sphere at the top.

"What the hell is that." said Nick, not even really asking a question. He kept looking at Erica and smiling. Nobody answered his question.

"Let's just rest there in that cave," said Erica. We all headed over very quietly. We settled in the deepest part of the cave and went to sleep.

Chapter 15:

I had another dream. We were in the same cave and all was quiet and then the mutts came in. They saw Molly and took her away. I was screaming and yelling and trying to help but I couldn't move and the other weren't waking up.

I jolted awake and looked to my right, expecting Molly to be there. But, she wasn't.
