The Snow War

We played until Dad came downstairs with two shovels. We paid no mind to him since we were too focused on the game. That's when he stood in front of the tv making us freeze.

"Time to shovel snow! You didn't think I was going to let you guys sit down here and do nothing all day, did you?"

"I would like to stay inside today," I mumbled.

"No, go shovel,"

"But-" Me and Damon started at the same time.

"Now!" He shouted and we both darted around him and ran upstairs.

"Midnight, we have a problem," I whined.

"What is that?" She asked as she opened one eye. She was laid out on my bed.

"I have to go outside and shovel snow." I sighed. She jumped to her feet, she looked wide awake now.

"You can't go outside now, there are still too many crawlers,"

"Well I can't stay in here without defying my dad and I don't want to die today," I said with worry.

"By what's going on I think you don't have a choice," I got scared, I'm so screwed.

"Well, maybe we can make a plan-"

"No, nothing is going to save me. It was nice knowing you Midnight," I put on my layers slowly trying to buy myself some time.

"Don't give up hope just yet, maybe something good might happen,"

"I hope for the best possible outcome, I really do." I walked out my room giving her a weak smile. I grab the shovel off the floor as we walked out the door. Dad already shoveled the sidewalk. We made our way on the street and started shoveling Damon's car. He was on his phone almost the entire time but I was shoveling like my life depended on it, and it did! 

"Why are you acting so paranoid? We are just shoveling, it's not like something is gonna come and attack you." He snorted but he didn't know how wrong he was. I looked and saw Tyler and Kris fighting side by side and then it changed to back to back. They looked a little hurt but I am glad they are still alright. Then my heart stopped when ten crawlers tackled them into the bushes, I started shoveling even faster. Then we started on the drive way, it was piled with snow. "I gotta go inside to get something," Damon said snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Do you really have to get it right now?"

"It will only take a second." He walked inside quickly. It will only take a half a second for me to get killed. I looked in between Tyler's house and mine. Andrew and Anthony were fighting but they got knocked out by a huge human like a void crawler.

*I am so screwed.* I repeated in my head so many times as it walked towards me. It was extremely large and twitched when it walked. It looked practically human with a transparent body with a black mist illuminating from it. I turned around and saw another army of them behind me. I turned to run in my house but my legs were stopped by black ice. My door was frozen with black ice also as all I could hear was Damon trying to bust it open. Wait how is he controlling shadows and ice? I don't understand. Well, where's the best possible outcome for this? Oh wait, there is none. I started smoking and the ice started melting quickly. Then the giant crawler appeared behind me. I froze with fear, couldn't run, even I could I wouldn't get far.

"So, this is the fire elemental that can defy my power? Not as impressive as I thought she would be." He sneered. Neither are you but I didn't want to say that in your face. "Maybe, I didn't have to wait until this blizzard hit. I could have gotten rid of you at any time, though you did destroy my greatest warrior." Then I remembered the giant crawler I fought in the parking lot. That was his greatest warrior? Weak, I guess he wants to be the most powerful.

"If you wanted to get rid of me so bad why didn't you do it yourself?!" I barked. He looked at me in surprise while raising what would be his eyebrow. Then a flash came to mind, he was Nightmare! Completely forgot about that.

"You seem a little feisty for being the most powerless girl here," he responded.

"You don't have to do this, Domin." He paused. I don't think he's heard his real name in awhile.

"Maybe I do, you know my name that means you know how to stop me." He started to walk towards me as well.

"That doesn't mean anything, or it could have been a good guess." My legs started melting even faster, I tried to move them but the ice started to get stronger. "I know you don't want to kill me, but you want to do something else." This is the best idea I have ever had. Try to figure out what his plan is before he kills me or something worse.

"Of course, a fire elemental like you doesn't come around often. Especially with the personality like yours, you are immune to my shadows and you're powerful so I can use that as an advantage in my army." Great, I'm even rarer that I thought I was. Wait, crawlers are people? No, I don't believe that not all crawlers can people. There's a strong feeling that this isn't true.

"You've gotten all your crawlers from elementals that you have captured?" I asked trying to buy more time.

"Void crawlers just don't fall from the sky. They follow me and my every command as slaves. Most of them are people anyway." Most? Alright, then it is not completely true. Then Tyler and Kris walk out, Andrew and Anthony started to wake up and everyone else was starting to show up. Tyler threw a bolt of lightning at Nightmare's back. He turned around and all the crawlers around me ran at them.
