Prologue-
But she's a new born.
Starbucks was a stereotype. Yet as I laid my head on the table that oddly smelt like cheap perfume and coffee. Leighton, my best friend, shook her head at me as she idly tapped her nails on the table.
"I just don't understand how you don't think he's totally cute!" I rolled my eyes at her.
"Just because he's the quarterback and is hot as hell doesn't mean you can ogle him all day. Kenir is still our friend." She sighed and pulled out her compact mirror re-applying her lip gloss and mascara around her hazel eyes. Throwing it down in her purse, she tightened her chocolate bun and pulled out her e-cig taking a drag and puffing the fruity smoke into the air.
"Asshole." I muttered under my breath. She looked at me and threw a caramel hand over mine.
"Don't tell me what you eat on a daily basis babe." We paused and I laughed at her as Kenir walked over with our drinks.
"One vanilla frappe." He handed it to me and I nodded in his direction. "And one mocha frappe." Leighton burst into all grins as she grabbed the cup from him. He slid into the chair in the middle of us. We made small chat as we normally did and I waited until my favorite subject came up.
"So spring break is next week and-" I cut him off with a loud squeal.
"So, sorry to cut you off, but mom is letting me use the bay house to host a kick off party after the final game!" They both stared at me dumbfounded as I spoke. My mom was way overprotective so for this to happen it was huge. I could finally stop being, Leighton with the ass' best friend and turn into Amanda bomb ass party thrower.
"Dude, is your mom allowing this to happen?" Leighton asked me, Kenir nodded his head and I frowned before quickly smiling again.
"Of course, she's giving me money and everything!" They were quiet. "Guys isn't this amazing." They exchanged a worried glance and I frowned again feeling they were up to something that I didn't know about. It was bothering me.
Suddenly my phone vibrated. "Speak of the devil right? " Kenir chuckled out breaking the awkward silence that had formed between the three of us. I looked down to check it and groaned instantly.
Mom- come how asap!
"How about a trip to my house guys?" They nodded again as slience fell and we made way to my car. The ride to my house was silent as well and the only noise that was available was the radio playing in the background. As we pulled up in the driveway I noticed another car sitting there.
"Amanda, whose car is that?" I shrugged and took a look at it. It was a fancy looking car, maybe a Mercedes-Benz and has shiny gold rims. Pulling down the driver side mirror I looked at myself something I probably didn't have to do but felt it was necessary. My blonde hair was still in it's high ponytail with the blue and white ribbon, only because it was spirit week and well being co-cheer captain I had duties right? Slinging my book bag over my shoulder I was the first to get out of the car as I made my way onto the porch and into the house, What came next to me was a shock that I wasn't expecting. On the left side of the living room sat my mom holding a new born baby in her hands and on the right sat a foreign looking couple, My mother looked up at me and smiled until she saw Kenir and Leighton standing behind me.
"Oh, Amanda I didn't know you were bringing people. Um, Amanada, Kenir, and Leighton this is Oceania Langin and her husband Kadums Langin." I smiled at them and gingerly shook their hands. They were obviously a Greek couple by their names and extremely tan skin but by their appearances they seems to be something completely different. Oceania had long thick raven hair and a teal green eye color. She didn't look a day over 24 and it was heartbreaking that I wasn't that pretty. Kadums on the other hand had Blonde hair and shocking electric blue eyes. He smiled at me and his pearly whites threw me off even more. He looked to be around 26. Leighton and Kenir looked at me in confusion and Leighton nodded at me.
"So me and Kenir are going to go downstairs and go hang out for a bit." Kenir let out a short protest.
"But I wanna know what's going on.." Leighton threw him a side eye and they both left for downstairs. "Nice meeting you!"
I sat on the couch next to my mother and the child turned to look at me. Her hair was black and blone and she had even brighter teal green eyes than her mother.
"So, um Persephone will be staying with us for a few days for your uncle and aunt have business to go take care of back in Penalopea." I cocked an eyebrow at her.
"Aunt? Uncle? Wait mom what is going on?" They couple stood up and hugged my mother.
"Thank you Tracey, what you're doing will help a lot." She nodded and they winked at me before joining hands and disappearing into a cloud of smoke and glitter. I gasped and jumped up.
"Ok Tracey Koraline Reese tell me what is going on." She frowned at the use of her full name.
"Amanda, calm down, you're old enough to know what's going on and in a few days Persephone will me too." I looked at her like she was crazy. Persephone was a new born for chirists sakes I walked to the other side of the room and stared at her.
"Go ahead explain." She sighed and that's when I noticed Persephone had gone to sleep. Mental note to quiet down.
"Amanda, sweetheart, do you remember me telling you that your grandparents came from a place called Granalia?" I nodded quietly. Pesephone stirred in her sleep.
"Yes go on."
"Well, it's a sort of middle earth and it's supernatural." I stared at her before bursting into a fit of laughter. She franticly sushed yet I took that as a notation to laugh even louder and more sarcatsicly. As my laughter got louder Persephone woke up and rolled over falling off the couch yet by the time she hit the floor she wasn't a newborn, she was a pre-schooler. With the appearance of a 4 and hair that reached her waist she got up and shook it off sitting on the couch with my mother. My mother sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Mom what the fuck?!" She wagged a finger at me and shrugged.
"She was supposed to turn into a 2 year old not 4, she totally just skipped the toddler phase." She turned to me. I was appalled that she was acting as if this was normal. "And you, no profanity." I walked over to the child and poked her in the head.
"What the-" My mother shot me a look. "Frack." The girl looked at me and frowned.
"I think frack is a bad word Amanda. You should apologize." I screamed and stepped back. How did she know my name? I just met her. "Amanda I'm hungry." She grabbed my hand and led me to the kitchen and that's when I noticed her clothes had changed too.
I'm Amanda Fleur Reese and unbeknowest to me today was the day ruined my spring break, prom, and summer.
