Chapter 1: Long Love

Amber:

"It's almost finally here, huh?" I said to Kyung Soo while he was going through his locker.

"Yup! I'm expected to go to the states for a while for my studies. Are you sure you won't be coming along with me? We've known each other, for like, forever!"

The way he spoke distracted me. These long lost feelings I've held in for a long time were killing me.

"Amber?" Kyung Soo said in confusion.

I finally came back to reality.

"Sorry, got sidetracked there. Anyways, I told you my parents need me here in Korea."

D.O. knew the whole entire story especially since we've known each other when we were kids. My parents were always horrible in saving money and I don't know, to this day, how we're still living in our own house.

Kyung Soo sighed at my reply.

"I know, Amber. Just don't forget me, okay?"

"I won't D.O.! Anyways, we still have half a summer left together too! Plus the fact graduation isn't for another 2 weeks."

We both paused once I said two weeks. Why we both stopped I don't know but for me I immediately had a flashback... A flashback when we both first met.

*flashback*

Please note: Kyung Soo and Amber are age 7 in this flashback

Amber:

I was hiding from my parents again. Although I was only seven I understood the troubles we were in. We may lose our house, again. I couldn't afford it. Since my parents were always fighting they didn't mind me leaving the house once in a while. I was at the park where there was this little toy cave where I'd crawl into the opening and just let myself cry.

One day, while I was crying I heard somebody was crawling into my cave. It was pretty dark in here and it was a hot summer day. Surprisingly, my mom forgot to wash my clothes so I wore all black. This time, I was just trying to take a break from the sun instead of crying.

A little boy entered who looked like he was crying. He crawled to the other side of the little cave, almost parallel from where I was, and just started crying. Me, wearing all black, tried to say a question.

"E-Excuse me. What's wrong?" I asked finally.

He jumped, looked around, and finally saw me.

He sniffed his nose and tried to speak but his crying made it impossible for me to understand.

"Sorry, I didn't quite get that."

He had to calm down and tried speaking one more time.

"I just lost someone really special to me, that's all."

I've never lost someone, well at that time, so I tried my best to calm him down.

"I'm so sorry, umm... Excuse me can I get your name?"

He looked up and replied to me without hesitation.

"Do Kyung Soo. But my friends call me D.O."

"Well, it's okay Kyung Soo. I promise, everything will get better."

He cried a little bit harder. "But my grandma was the only thing keeping me happy!"

"Please, calm down Kyung Soo." I crawled toward him til the point I was touching his shoulder.

I don't remember everything after that. All I know is that what I said to him we became great friends after that.

"Amber?"

I was sent back to reality. Kyung Soo was looking at me.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, D.O., let's head to class."

As we walked toward I class a picture of Kyung Soo hugging me came to my mind again.
