My name is Rosemary Smith and I'm a Senior at Justice Preparatory High School. I live in a pretty weird world, I guess you could say. Society was centered all around the all powerful "necklace" that everyone was born with. I had been wearing the necklace ever since I could remember. Mama and Papa said it would help me find "the one" and the necklace was how they found each other. Mama said that when my necklace feels hot, "he" is close by, and when it feels cold, "he" is far away. I never really understood who "he" was. Sometimes while Lily and I were walking around the neighborhood Lily would say she felt it warm up when we'd pass by Paul's house.

Paul was our neighbor that lived a few houses down from us. Mama said that Lily and I should start traveling to see if we can find our guy. So, we began by walking around our neighborhood. Lily's necklace began warming up as we got closer to Paul's house. She rushed me to feel her necklace to make sure it wasn't just her imagination making it seem like it was warming up. I felt her necklace and boy, did it feel hot. Was it possible to find our match at our young age? Paul was outside mowing the lawn when all of sudden, I saw him call his brother Arnold to feel his necklace. Arnold had told Paul that it felt hot. As we got closer to Paul's house, Lily's necklace got hotter and hotter. We finally arrived in front of Paul's house and both the necklaces attached to each other. It was in that moment that Lily and Paul looked at each other like they were the only two people in the whole world. I ran home to tell Mama and Papa what had happened. They smiled in joy and ran over to Paul's house. Paul's parents and my parents were both discussing what we were all to do. After all, Lily was only 19 and Paul was 20. Arnold and I were talking he asked me if my necklace had ever felt hot like that and I responded by saying no, although there was one time when I felt it warm up. I asked Arnold the same question and he had told me that his necklace had warmed up around school, but he never paid attention to it. I asked him why he didn't pay attention to it, and he told me that everyone's necklace had warmed up at least once or twice around school. But.. I never felt my necklace warm up around school.

I was 18 and about to graduate in a few weeks. Mama and Papa told me that Lily and Paul were to be married in about 6 months. Those 6 months were to give Lily and Paul more time to get to know each other and to be able to plan out the wedding. When we were back home Lily had told me about how she wanted me to be one of her bridesmaids. I jumped up out of my bed and yelled yes. After both necklaces attached, everything had changed. Lily wasn't home often because she was out with Paul. I couldn't believe that my sister was getting married already. I felt glad for my sister but deep down, I was sad because she was soon to leave me and go live with Paul in their own house and start a new family. What had happened to my sister and I searching for our match together? She had already found her match but what would I do? When would I find, "the one"?
