One more point. Just one more.

We're so close.

I have to make this count!

This game had been strenuous for both teams. (Name) (Last name) anchored her arms on her knees as she stood, her breathing ragged. Tired, yet ever analytical, she surveyed her surroundings with sharp eyes. As the team strategist, it was imperative that she pick apart every piece of her opponents and work out the best course of action. Her legs quivered lightly, momentarily betraying the utter exhaustion she felt. Suddenly the weight of her home country's name on the back of her jersey felt suffocating. (Name) always underestimated the difficulty of playing five sets instead of three.

"Pay attention, (name)!" her best friend Sara called.

Jolting back into focus, the girl realized that the referee's whistle had already sounded, signaling the opposing team's serve. She positioned herself by the net, and watched the ball soar overhead.

"Got it!" her team's #8 exclaimed as she received the ball. It bounced from her forearms with a loud smacking noise. "(Name)!"

"Alright!"

Focus.

Two blockers to the right. Libero is off to the left corner. Watch out for that #11.

(Name) lifted her hands above her head and prepared to perform a jump set. A soft grin made its way to her face as the ball continued to approach her awaiting fingertips. At times like these, things seemed to move in slow motion– she was aware of every little movement around her. The ball spun in the air, coming ever closer, and closer...

...

"Hey dumbass, wake up already!"

"Ngh??"

"Finally, jeez. I've been trying to get you up for, like, ten minutes already."

The blurry image in front of (name)'s eyes came into focus as she rubbed her face with her fingers. She eventually realized that she wasn't at all on the court, but sitting still in an uncomfortable airplane seat next to her brother. Yuuto flicked her forehead teasingly as she sat up properly from her previously slumped position.

"Yeah, right," she laughed lightly. "Sorry about that. Are we there yet?"

"Pretty much," informed Yuuto. "We're landing in a few minutes, and you need to tie your seatbelt. Be grateful that your amazing brother went to the trouble of waking you up and saving your life."

"You're ridiculous."

"Yeah? Well you drooled."

"I did not!"

The duo thus engaged in an extremely important debate circling the topic of (name) (lastname)'s saliva. Once the playful banter stopped and the plane landed, Yuuto helped his 'slimy sister' stand and handed her her crutches.

"Let's go! The sooner all that security crap is over with, the better," he exclaims, stretching his back and stepping into the alley.

After said excruciating process, the duo made their way to the entrance of the airport. Their foster family had informed them that this would be the place of their meet-up.

"Oi (name)?"

"Hmm?"

"What's the name of the family we'll be staying with again?"

"Wow, nice bro. We're staying in their home and you can't even remember their names?" she teased. "It's Shimizu. Their daughter goes to the same school that we'll be attending."

(Name) surveyed the room for said family. "Hey, I think that's them over there!"

"Where?"

(Name) nudged her brother with one of her crutches and used it to point toward a trio on their right. Yuuto followed her gaze and spotted the older man and woman (presumably the parents) holding up a whiteboard. Next to them stood a gorgeous young woman who offered the siblings a small wave. Squinting slightly, (name) tried to decipher the characters written on the board. They read, as she could see, 'Welcome, (last name) (name) and (last name) Yuuto! We are the Shimizu family.'

Yuuto nodded and tugged his sister's arm, attempting to bring her toward their foster family. The weight of her backpack and sheer force of her brother's pulling caused her to stumble forward inelegantly. Suddenly remembering her injury, her released her arm and sent her a crooked grin as an apology, progressing forward alone. She shook her head playfully, and followed suit.

(Name) smiled gently at the couple's shy-looking daughter as they approached. The siblings bowed respectfully to the trio, greeting them and offering their gratitude for their hospitality. The mother smiled and returned the greeting, welcoming the pair to her home and her country. After a few more exchanges of casual conversation, the three made five traveled to the Shimizu family vehicle.

As the girl loaded her luggage next to Yuuto's into the remarkably spacious vehicle, she felt a gentle tap on her shoulder. She set down her last bag and turned to meet the eyes of the lovely young girl she'd be living with. Smiling, she shut the car's trunk.

"Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home," said (name), bowing once again.

"It's nothing," responded the girl kindly, returning her new friend's smile. "I just wanted to say hello properly since I didn't get to do it before."

"Oh, alright! My name's (last name) (name). I'm from (country). Nice to meet you!"

(Name) extended her arm to her new housemate in greeting. Her counterpart lightly grasped her fingers and shook her hand.

"Nice to meet you too. My name is Shimizu Kiyoko. I look forward to getting to know you."

"Welcome to Japan!"
