Hey guys, this is the first fan fiction I’ve posted and the first story that I feel I can write continuously. Tell me what you think of it. Hope you like it!
Chapter One
Ivy’s POV
I stared at the clock for what seemed like a lifetime. At least it was better than me pacing around the room. How bloody long did it take to gather some test results? Aren’t these people meant to be quick and professional? Aren’t they.....
I was interrupted from my thoughts by the opening of the door. A man with grey hair and black glasses crossed the room and took a seat behind the large desk opposite me. He scanned the bundle of papers that he had walked into the room with and clicked his tongue in response to something he was reading. Couldn’t he just get on with it? The clicking noise that he made with his tongue made me want to hurt him. At long last he raised his head and seemed to study me for a couple more moments before he proceeded with the all important results.
“Miss Valentine, I have your results.....” He took a long pause which only further fuelled my frustration. “...it appears that the tumour which was previously present in your body has greatly decreased to the point, where there seems to be no trace of the tumour. It is important you understand....” he continued rambling on but all I could process was the fact that it was gone. Completely gone. Although I was gleefully happy, I still had to be sure so I interrupted him.
“Are you sure it is completely gone” I whispered in disbelief as the news still hadn’t registered.
“We are completely certain it is gone but there is no assurance that it won’t return again so you will need to attend a scan every six months. What I advice you to do now is to treat this as your second chance to live. Make sure you have as much fun as possible.”
I jumped from my seat as he finished his sentence and I gave him a hug and thanked him for all his help and walked out of the room.
Walking out of the building, the good news still hadn’t completely registered but I was aware that I walked down the road with a slight spring in my step. I paused a moment near a park and inhaled the air. It was nearly springtime so new flowers were blossoming creating a sweet aroma in the air around me. Now that I had fewer things to worry about, I could appreciate the air.
Just as I was about to think about where next to go, a robotic voice called out “You have a call, pick it up, you have a call pick it up” I would have to remember to change that ringtone soon. I certainly didn’t think about how embarrassing it was when I chose it. I sighed slightly as I saw the caller ID. It was my best friend Akkeymay but my nickname for her was May. I pressed the answer button and pressed it to my ear.
“So what was is the news” the impatient voice on the other end asked immediately. I giggled a little not at all surprised by May’s question. She has always been a bit impatient.
“It was fantastic! The doctor told me that the tumour can no longer be found” I all but screamed down the line jumping on the spot. This was welcomed by a loud squeal which caused me to wince and hold the phone at a distanced because of the sheer volume of the shriek.
“OMG, that’s a miracle. We need to celebrate tonight. I know, why don’t you, I and a few other girls go for a meal in the evening. I’ll come to pick you up at 7pm. Dress sexy” she spoke making sure to put on a firm voice as she said the last two words. That was how I could tell the difference between a suggestion and a command.
“Okay, fine. We’ll go for a meal but I’m not getting drunk.” Two could play at the command game, I thought as I replied.
“Please? You make it sound like the meal was an option given to you. You were coming even if you said no” I could almost see her roll her eyes as she spoke those words.
“Nice to know you care so much about my feelings” I replied sarcastically
“Oh I do best friend. Be ready by 7pm. See you later, love you girl.” She then hung up. Rude much!
I couldn’t help but laugh a little at May’s ways. She was a little minx, the little minx that was my best friend. I laughed a little more as I climbed into my black car and made my way home to get ready for tonight. With May in tow, it was sure to be an interesting night.
