"Um hey Gabriel how are you?" I questioned the man who was calling me.

"Nothing much I just wanted to hear your voice." God my husband could be such a dork sometimes.

"Hey Amy?" He began, "You know you're the best thing that's ever happened to me right?"

"Gabriel are you trying to get something from me because all you're flattery won't work this time." I could feel myself smiling as he spoiled me with his words.

"What could I possibly want more than the perfect wife who I love with every ounce of my body."

"Ok, ok you sap now what do you want for dinner when you get home?"

"Whatever you want is fine," I could feel him getting a little quieter as if he were assessing my words.

"Hey speaking of you coming home when are you planning on coming back to see me?" I couldn't help but put on a grin as I thought about him coming home and kissing my cheek and giving a big hug like he always did.

"I don't know when I'll get back home I'm still kind of held up at work."

"Fine but make sure you come home soon or I'm going to starve waiting here for you at dinner." I said as I began to dig through the cabinets trying to find something decent to eat such as some noodles or maybe some stuff to make sandwiches.

Yeah that would work I can make him his favorite sandwich and I'll make mine and we can sit and eat together. Just like we did on our first date. Gabe planned a cute little picnic and we both knew that we were meant to be together. Sandwiches it is.

As I started to get the bread out I heard a siren through the phone.

"What was that?" Probably just an ambulance driving by him right? Yeah.

"Oh an ambulance it was just going by like they normally do."

"Well those things sure are noisy jeeze." It's almost as if I could still hear it through the phone.

"Amy I'm going to have to hang up I love you so much, you have no idea."

"I love you too but hurry home I have a surprise for you!!!" I could practically hear her smile.

I knew I wasn't coming home, and I knew this ambulance couldn't save me. I just wanted to hear her voice one last time. To imagine her sitting at my picnic. Imagining her in her wedding dress waiting to be married to me.

I grabbed on the wound on my side as my breathing became unsteady.

"HEY!!! SOMEONE HELP HIM HE'S ABOUT TO COLLAPSE" I could hear the head medic screaming but it was a blur of noise as my vision got darker.

As a medic grabbed me I said to him, "I want you to please remember my last words and tell them to Amy," I began as I started to cough up blood, "Tell her that I love her and tell her I'm sorry and play the third song on my playlist on her phone while you're at it."

Then it over took me, the darkness, the ever pulling grip. And I just let it take me.

"Mam is this house of Amy and Gabriel Smith?"

A medic was at our door, why was a medic at our door.

Unless

"No no no no no Gabriel he's alright right? RIGHT?!" I started to panic I ran my hands through my hair staring at the medic.

"I'm truly sorry Amy your husband has passed from excessive bleeding."

"But that can't be true I was just talking to him on the phone he... he can't be."

No

No

He's not dead how could he be dead.

Please no

"May I see your phone?" The medic asked me. I handed him my phone numbly as he took it in his fingers.

He tapped some buttons and looked at me.

"Your husband asked me to give you his last words."

He tapped another button and a song came on, "And to play you this song."

Don't worry about a thing.

"He told me that he loved you."

'Cause every little thing's gonna be alright.

"No," I fell down to floor on my knees crying, "Why would he call me when he was about to die? Why did he have to die? Why couldn't it have been me!?"

Don't worry about a thing.

"He also said that he's sorry, and he wanted me to play the third song on his playlist on your phone." He handed her back her phone and drove off leaving the girl alone to cry and drown in grief.

'Cause every little thing's gonna be alright...
