(Lucas's POV)
I looked at Maya's mom laying in the crimson velvet of her casket . Maya pushed herself under my arm . " She was all I had left, " she muttered . I pulled her into my chest and hugged her tightly . I kissed her forehead and pulled her back staring into her eyes, "We have each other."
(Maya's POV )
I looked into Lucas's eyes . " not for long I thought ." I pulled my self from his grip and then ran out . I got in my car and drove home . I got out my phone and texted him , " meet me for froyo and a kiss goodbye "
(Lucas's POV)
I read the text and knew what was happening . She wasn't at the froyo shop . I drove to her house . Maya ! I banged on the door but she wouldn't answer. I tried to force the door open but it was locked . I ran around back and ran in . She was laying on the floor with an empty pill bottle in her hand and a sticky note on her chest . I scooped her in my arms and called 911 . I peeled off the note and read it . " please Lucas !" I chunked it across the room .
